WD TV Live or Apple TV???

Hi,

I've got a WD TV Live and I believe it to be one of the most useless bit's of kit I have. It's rammed full of bugs and constantly crashes. They update constantly but this only seems to unearth new bugs.

I've heard good things about Apple TV with XBMC on it, is this right?

So, what do other people think?

WD TV or Apple TV (with XBMC)?

Ive got an Apple TV 2 with XBMC and works spot on most the time, although sometimes you need to hunt around several plug-ins to find what you want! One bonus is you can use an iphone or ipad as a remote! dont go for a Apple TV 3 yet, as they haven't jailbroken it yet

Apple TV is great, though I have never bothered to jailbreak mine - never seen the need. As Carlos77 says above, the remote app is very useful.

You can convert anything to bring it into iTunes (which is what I do), and then just stream it to Apple TV.

No, they're rubbish (I bought one a year ago for one of our bedrooms). That is, compared to the AppleTV - I don't know how they compare against the WD

Yeah like the post above says, these are cr ap.

I'd jailbreak it to take more file types. I have Android, would that work? I have a WD app with Android that works, just a shame WD is so crap.

Mine run the standard theme and is connected to a TB hard drive with films and tv on it. Crashes every other day and sometimes doesn't find info even when I spell it out. I'm fed up with it.

That's a shame as I was thinking of getting one for Now TV. What is wrong with it?

Bought a WDTV live about 2 years ago and had no problems once it was set up - could you just have a faulty unit?
