.....At the EJ desk, I expect it was theusual bun fight, because even though they have at long lastintroduced allocated seats, people are worried about boarding lateand having their hand luggage removed to the hold. The last time weflew with them we nearly had a fight to hang onto our hand luggagecontaining laptops and other delicate electronic equipment....

On a busy BA flight, including those from LCY, your large over head locker only sized only hand luggage could still be requested to be put in the hold. However the space under the seat in front of you is available so perhaps have a back up smaller bag so you can separate your valuables from your larger bag and then they could safely stay with you in the cabin.

Living in the north east the new avios redemptions have been great for us. This year we've had a child free weekend in Berlin, booked flights for four of us to Nice, with a couple of nights stop over in London on the way across (during the school holidays) and a childfree weekend in prague, club europe, to look forward to in october. In total we've spent just under £200 in total, and all but one leg of the flights are in club!

Next year we've managed to get flights to cancun, 2 in club, 2 in premium economy, for a 2 week break and DD only misses 2 days of school, cost of flights £2k.

Needless to say I'm a bit of a BA fan!

Where did you fly from? We find it a pain to have to go via a London airport to go almost any where by BA now. Their Manchester terminal just seems to offer shuttles. To Heathrow and Gatwick.

Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)
  • I fly with them using Avios, so the paid part of fare is dirt cheap.
They do offer a great service. However, Ive not had any issues with any other airline either. Short/ medium haul , its who ever is cheapest for me.
What is Avios please ? .

We fly from Newcastle, I don't really mind the shuttles, as I consider the travel part of the trip, especially in club when you can enjoy a glass of champers too. Unfortunately there aren't ba connections down to gatwick for us, so we'll have to go for a long drive the night beforeb(which isn't so bad for a 2 week holiday)

  • BA are rubbish: they don't even go to Addis Ababa, never mind popular destinations like Cotonou and Lome.

Easyjet and Ryan do? Hardly a relevant thread is it??
Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

He was joking. Cotonou (Benin) is hardly a popular destination. I believe that Voyager2002 is probably a fan of and frequent flyer on BA.

Agree with original poster wholeheartedly. Avios reward flights with BA are good value and I love the service with BA.

We also get to use the Club lounge at Terminal 5. £40 return to Barcelona in June in Club, albeit having to use up a few thousand Avios !
