Your husbands advice is EXACTLY what I was saying, and what I posted further up. He sounds like a sensible chap.

There are cab companies that try to out do each other. My one and only experience of a calling a mini-cab for myslef alone (i.e. no 'safety in numbers'), I called one cab firm (recommended to me), another turned up, tried to claim that the other firm had asked them to pick up as they did not have a driver free. I said I needed to pop to the loo first, as he was a few minutes early (to give me the chance to call the firm I called back and see what was going on). The booker stated that this happens all the time, and to sit still as their driver was on his way (giving me his name and the make and reg of his car). I watched as his car came in to the road I was in, and watched as the other driver sped of at warp speed... That's two legal firms, so I'm sorry, but I think more could be done by industry regulators to address this. This was about 10 months ago. It can be scary if you are a lone female, and I'm glad I was at a friends house and had somewhere safe to go and double check what was going on.

Your husband's firm might tell all women the name of the driver on route, and the make and reg of their car (and good on them for doing so) but not all do....

Easy answer, USE A CAB FIRM THAT DO. Or would you like to find an issue/problem with that further?

There you go again with your "mini-cab drivers are dangerous ogres" innuendos.

Please do not assume I (& others reading this board) are too stupid to understand the subliminal message you are constantly putting across.

I was not suggesting you use mini-cabs, I was suggesting the easy answer for people who want a cheaper fare than black cab drivers charge.

I would not try to convince an hysterical & biased person such as yourself who is so obviously deluded against licensed private hire drivers (who are licensed with/by the PCO - the same as black cabs) to use mini-cabs. I'm just clarifying the rubbish & slur you keep coming out with about a legal & officiated trade. There are shysters & crooks in EVERY part of life, people impersonate all sorts of other trades, you can't hold licensed drivers responsible for criminals who impersonate them.

All I said is CHECK THE CAB YOU GET IN IS THE ONE YOU THINK YOU ORDERED>

    Everything else is you.

I do find it funny that YOU find ME hysterical though - gave me a good giggle on a dull, wet Sunday lunch! That said, you're going on block, as I think you are as cuck-coo as you seem to be accusing me of being... Good bye!

Dr Fluffy has very patiently been saying the same thing - double check the credentials of the CAB THAT ARRIVES, which may not be one from the company that was called - and you have been very helpful in telling us all what those credentials are

    What is the problem?

Thank you! That's exactly all I am saying! Perhaps a little emotively, as I can not reitterate how devistating the results can be when things do go wrong.

Not related tot he OP's question, but generally the best advice to anyone anywhere is to be safe - what ever you are doing. Think about how you are going to get from A-B, and have a back up plan too, so if plan A doesn't work out you have a plan B and don't make a decision you will regret.
