Thanks mcfisco - you are right I will keep a sense of perspective.
Just out of interest how does the law stand about tinies being in taxis without proper car seat?

Bear in mind that tubes or buses won't have child seats either which brings the taxi concern more into context. I'd go with a taxi and sit your youngest in one of the rear-facing seats. Can I help?0

i do the journey regularly
i would not dream of doing it in your circumstances with luggage
in your case it will probably be cheaper in a taxi too
underground fares are extortionate if you dont have an oyster card
booster seats are not compulsory in taxisspeed is good0 -
Get a cab...April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200

Cabs (like buses, tubes & trains) don't provide/require child travel seats. Get a cab, but get a minicab rather than a black taxi, they are cheaper & you can pre-book one & be told the fare in advance when you book.
I can give you the number of a cab office in Waterloo, my husband is a cabbie in a Waterloo cab office or if you want one in/near Kings Cross, go on the TFL web site, go to the mini cab section & you can get a list of all the cab offices in any area. I think they do it by brough though, but it should be easy enough, hes in bed now or I would have asked him for you what the fare is likely to be.
I honestly wouldn't dream of doing that on public transport - with luggage:eek::eek:0 -
Make sure it's a REAL minicab if you do that though...April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200

The TFL (transport for London) web site will only list "real" licensed cab offices:rolleyes:0

And of course, dodgy cab companies don't scan airwaves and then jump fares... Common tactic that gets at least one woman raped a week...
My husband is a licensed cab driver in London.
ALL licensed cabs will have a BIG hologrammed yellow sticker (like a large tax disc & non forgeable) in the FRONT & BACK WINDOWS.
The Cab driver will have an identity PHOTOCARD from TFL.
I've never heard of dodgy cab companies, are you sure you are not talking about individuals who are known as "blaggers"?
Have you any idea how tightly regulated it is now (& about time too).
If the lady books through a licensed cab firm they will collect her from the hotel in a car with license's on display in the front & back & a photocard around the drivers neck.0 -
I know that - that's why I said make sure you are getting in to a real cab... I volunteer in student welfare, and have heard a few heartbreaking stories from people who texted 'home' to the tfl number, then assumed they were safe... No idea how the text number was infiltrated (I assummed it was arways infiltration), but apparently City of London Police and the Met are investigating...April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200
