Hi
This is my first post so please go easy
I'm wondering if anyone has any insight or can offer any advice to me regarding travel money for when I go on my honeymoon in July this year. We are going to Singapore and bali so need two different currency's. we have been saving for this holiday of a lifetime for 3 years so we have around 3k to take but I don't want to get ripped off in commissions or withdrawal charges etc.
I cannot get a traveling credit card due to credit history problems.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
DT

The right pre-paid card and a back-up. Past credit problems not an issue.

Why should they "take a FairFx??" Why not ICE or Kalixa? Why not a Metro Bank debit?0

I used Fair FX across about 40 countries and for about 5 years so can vouch for it in terms of use and security.
Also - it's consistently the best value prepaid card on the market.0 -
Do they charge for transactions though? How is it better than caxtonfx?
Thanks for your help0 -
when I travel I use local ATMs with my Nationwide debit card.
At Singapore airport the travel counters (to the left at the top escalators when heading to passport control) offer really good ex. rates for pounds to $ with no fee.0 -

Utter rubbish. Wasn't better than the Cash Passport Globe. Isn't better than Kalixa. Isn't better than ICE Prepaid Sterling.
Why make such an inaccurate statement?
I actually have a FairFx Anywhere card, but I wouldn't make the ridiculous claim that you have here.0 -
If the OP can get a Metro bank Debit card that's the best, but they mention possible credit history problems.
A pre-paid card seems the best option then, my experience with Fairfx is the same as Mr Wang's, no problems anywhere although I use a Metro Bank card now.
(Other cards are available)
Unless you are spending a lot of money they might be very little in total costs and charges between the top few pre-paid cards.0 -

Yes they do, 1.4% as well as having a cash withdrawal charge of £1. Caxton have a 'hidden' 2.75% charge, so certainly no better.
ICE Prepaid £ charge 1.85% in total with no other charges. Kalixa have no forex charges charges at all, just a cash withdrawal charge of £2.25.
Metro Bank have no charges at all and you can have the card within an hour or two of entering a branch.0
