For heavens sake. All you NEED to get to work is some form of basic transport - a CHEAP car from ebay. As for the rest of it, what's done is done, you can't force the loan company to agree. If they want to repossess the car they'll just have to do it, you're not going to get the money from anywhere else. There is a reason why people advise against buying cars on finance ....

Yeah whats done is done and i agree cars on finance is a joke and i defiantly wouldnt do it again ive learnt from a mistake, and am fighting the decision their making.

am not bothered about the car going am bothered about how its going to effect me. If they take the car on monday for example. getting to work would be horrific! 18 miles each way on a bike .. taxi is probably £15 each way and as for a bus. well. 1 change + 40 minute walk...

I just dont know.... whats the point i may as well look for a new job thats local , what do i do? Leave a job that i'm happy in to go work in a local factory ??

well anyway , ive sent them a letter if they want the car fine they can come and get it , i wont make it easy for them because their not making it easy for me. its not a bad proposal Ive offered them. ill save up every penny i get until they actually get the car and hopefully i will have saved up a good amount of money to either settle the outstanding balance or buy a cheap run around.

or maybe bet the spare £100 on "Green 0 :)"

If you enjoy your job you will find a way to make it work. If you gave up your job without another one to go to you wouldn't be entitled to JSA something to bare in mind.

Give the car up frankly its not worth the hassle. If you can stall them for a week or two put aside the money you were prepared to pay them you should be able to afford to buy something yourself. Even if it only lasted you six months or so it would give you time to save up for something better that you would own. When it's on finance its never really yours.

'Fraid I'm a +1 for finding a combination of bus, bike, walking, train and getting a lift. Or don't. Some jobs are worth it.

I used to do 2.5 hrs each way daily for 6 months - the job was worth it. Won't say it wasn't inconvenient or tiring, but you do what you have to do

yeah the jobs that are worth it are well paid am on nearly min wage.. 6.50 an hour without my breaks paid. its just a joke I finally get on my feet with an income and now they wont accept my payments bunch of toss*rs they know what the economy is like and how hard it is to get a job but their not bothered that's why were in recession.

company's sponging every single penny squeezing extra tight even for money you don't have and hitting you when times are hard with charges because you fell behind so any money you get only pays the charges off and your not gaining.

the poor are getting poorer the rich are getting richer

its corrupt this government should of some kind law to protect people in bad situations. it wasn't my fault I got made redundant so now am going to be left with £8k or so to pay for thin air basically.

problem is , if they take the car they still require the outstanding balance which will be approx £7k and they will want me to make £250.00 a month so i wont have a spare £250 a month

As others have already stated, they can't force you to pay that much.

Whilst its being decided how much you WILL pay, you'll still have enough to buy a cheap motor to get you to work and back. Nil desperandum.

Look on the bright side: you've learned a valuable lesson about the value of living within your means, and hopefully won't make the same mistakes again.

By all means apply for a time order - anything that will delay the repossession of the car and give you time to get some money together for another one is worth doing.

Barring this, at tghe risk of people hating me for suggesting it, get a Payday loan IF AND ONLY IF you will be able to pay it off on in full on payday. Get a car with that. The car does not have to last you very long. This is a valid reason to use PDLs and your credit is shot to pieces anyway.

DON'T give up the job, you might find it very difficult to get another one!

This thread could be made a sticky.

That way, people intending to borrow £000's for a new car and want to ignore good advice can then see what really can happen.
