Renting - Pigeon stuck in chimney!

I had a crow stuck up (down?) the chimney a few weeks ago. Nothing much you can do, other than to get a sweep out and try to push it up and out. Although there's just as much chance that it'll fall down and into the living room.
Not an option if there's no access to the chimney though.
Not sure that the RSPCA would be able to do much, if the chimney's blocked from below.
It might seem cruel, but if it can't be rescued, then there's not a lot you can do. That's life, I'm afraid - you can only do what you can do.
ps - silence in my chimney now, I'm afraidWarning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
Chimney sweep won't come out unless there's access to the open hole - they won't disconnect a gas or electric fire.
If it was a gas fire you'd have to get a GasSafe registered person round to disconnect the fire, pull it out, the reconnect it after the bird is free.
Not sure on the legalities with an electric fire - not sure if you have to use a Part P electrician or whether you can DIY it (if confident).
We had a bird fall down our chimney a couple of years ago. Had to get a gas engineer to take the fire out and put it back afterwards. Thankfully the bird flew straight out and out of the open window, without pooping once in our lounge! Gas guy only charged us £30 - not bad considering our regular guy wasn't about so I had to get an emergency call-out person from the Yellow Pages.
Afterwards we had a bird guard fitted to the top of the chimney so it can't happen again.0 -

* rip out fire, open up fireplace, get sweep round and push up
* lower a loop of rope/wire down fro above, hook round pigeon's head, and pull up
I don't think so!0 -
Would you be so concerned if it was a rat that died there? Pigeons are as much vermin as they are.0

Sadly I got no response from my LL or LA no surprise and I've not heard it the last couple of days.0

How do you know the bird is stuck, could it be a nest? It's someone else's fault.0

I don't tbh0

My living room had a plague of flies a few years back. There were thousands of them for days, and I couldnt work out where they were coming from. A year later, the gas fire was replaced, and the installer called me to see the body of a dead pigeon behind the fire he removed.
Another reason to get the bird out if you can.0 -

we have these rooks that were nesting in our chimney...
after a squirrel came down and ran about breaking things, the landlord got proper cows put on the chimney... (different house, different squirrel than the one in the ventilation flue above the stove, but we seem to attract this sort of trouble!)
a week later, a rook came falling down the chimney and flew about the other loungeroom in our house! *&^%&^$!!!!
the men that placed the cowls made up some weak excuse that the birds had pecked through the wire, and that is how 1 week later, we still ended up with an animal running riot!
anyway, shennanigans aside, we still get sticks dropped down the chimney constantly, even though they have apparently patched the wire, and we hear this flapping drumming sound in there alot...
have no idea whats going on, but its not stuck in the chimney, and i doubt there is a nest in there, as the cowl was apparently fixed...
but we do hear that flapping ,squawking carry on alot...maybe they are mating on top of the cowl?0
