unsure how to cancel contract or if I can :/

Hi, can anyone help??
I recently got a contract phone on the new network life mobile. Within a week apparently I've used a months worth of data :/ when I got the phone I was told in store by a phones4u manager that if extra data was needed I could get an internet add on. Ringing the actual net work theyve said no can't add on internet if needed and with only having the phone for 7 days I can't take it back and cancel contract and was told to ring the phones4u store I got it from, did that and was told exactly the same thing. Now do I have rights as a consumer to take this back and cancel as the way I see it the product was miss sold or are the network and shop right in that I cant take it back and cancel contract? And if I do have rights what can be done next?

P4U sales persons are notorious for incompetence and lying.
They are likely to deny everything, but if you can prove what you say then you do have a right to cancel if they don't rectify their blunder.

Next time do your research and never rely on anything that any salesman says.

Can you not just switch to a more expensive contract with a bigger allowance?

Why phones 4 u haven't been shut down i will never know. Even their management encourage lying to customers. It's part of the job.

What is your monthly allowance? It might be that you've used an unusual amount of data this first month while you are getting the phone set up. I think you can continue to use data until the end of the month but with a £1 daily charge rather than buying a bundle, so it might be that you misunderstood what the salesman said.

I agree with Grumbler, incompetence certainly, but lying? This assumes they knew the right answer and chose to mislead. I think they just assumed (wrongly) and you've found them out. Without proof, you're stuck.

It is a pretty silly 'network' that does not provide bolt ons the customer requires, but then it makes sense to do tour research before handing over any money.

Making assumptions and passing them to customers with apparent confidence is no different from deliberate lying.

Otherwise, any information given by a salesman cannot be classed as lie unless it was given as a reply to a question "Are you 100% sure?".

You don't know how many P4U managers i know who tell their staff to lie to customers.
