If you change your font to something like Wingdings or Webdings, there are various symbols in there that correspond to letters. It will just be a case of finding the right one through trial and error.

    It’s a long-winded process:

Go to Word, insert, symbol, wingdings, highlight the tick, click insert. This will put the tick on your Word page. You can enlarge it at this stage. Highlight the tick, click on copy, go to the cell in Excel and paste.

    Do the folloiwnG:

    - Insert
    - Symbol
    - Change Font to Windings (left hand drop down)
    - Scroll down a bit and you will see Tick and Cross

I always forget to change font and think its disappeared!

Damn, he beat me by a couple of seconds!

Not that long winded - but annoying I'd have to agree.

    In XP

    Start>
    Programs>
    Accessories>
    System Tools>
    Character Map>

The 3rd row from the bottom has the tick.
    Click on the tick>
    Click Select>
Go to your document and paste.

You don't need to go to word - you do it all in excel.

I've found the same thing. Doesn't seem to be supported in Excel 2000.
