Galaxy SII upgrade

So a notification came through yesterday for a firm ware upgrade so I did it and I hate it!

Is there any way of getting rid of it?

It's the texting that I hate now most of all - previously, you could add a word or take off the predictive text on the same screen and either type it or add a word and it just doesn't work like that without either going to the qwerty key pad or through the settings attached to the texting.

The "old" style text is what I most liked about the phone and didn't use the qwerty setting at all, now I find that I have to use it more as I can't add words or put in words that I want!

Any ideas?

Thanks

There are at least 50 different text editors you can add from the Android market. Do some playing around on the play store until you find one you like.

I love the latest keyboards on my S3 running 4.1.2 Jellybean.

Go Keyboard is a good starting point with lots of modifications you can make.

If this is all too complex, trade your S2 in for a more simple phone.

Thanks for the ideas will give them a go.

It's not that it's complex by any means I just found it easier using the "old style" key pad for texting.

I am going to trade my phone in when my contract is up anyway - I don't know if it's just my phone but even though I am on a smart plan with unlimited internet (local equivalent) it just doesn't pick up the internet unless I am on wifi which is really not good and not the point of the phone and it never has really worked despite me going into the shop several times to try and get it sorted.....just fed up of the phone I suppose and this is the last straw lol
  • Is this the update to Ice Cream Sandwich?

If so, and if your experience is anything like mine has been, the texting may be the least of your worries.

Since updating to ICS, my S2 has started turning itself off at regular intervals and won't switch back on without being plugged in to charge. It would do this every 5-10 minutes or so if I didn't keep it plugged in and was using the phone (it doesn't tend to do it when it's not being used). It is now completely useless as a mobile phone, as it's no longer mobile!

I keep meaning to do a reset to see if that helps, otherwise I'll try to roll back to whatever version of Android was on it before.

To be honest I've looked at that before but couldn't quite figure out how it worked.

I've tried to roll it back and it won't, so have done a factory reset.

My phone kept hanging and not working following the upgrade also it just ate the available space so at least the reset has cleared that out but it wasn't as if I had lots of apps either!
