I seem to remember these getting mentioned on a recent thread but I can't find it anywhere so apologies for repetitivityness.
My wife still uses the above. Pretty much because no-one has physically forced her to change it, although I've had a picture licence for a few years.
What is the penalty for this heinous crime, if any?
And if legislation has not yet been enforced, when does it some into play?
Thanks all.

That link is not very accurate, it is only the photograph that needs renewing, not the licence, and it is only the paper counterpart of the photo licence that is being phased out by 2015. There are plans to phase out the old style paper licences soon after, but no date has been set yet - they will cease to be valid in 2033.0 -
Is it valid for your current address? That's the real issue. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0

There is no crime!
She is better off than you as she won't have to keep paying for a new photo card every 10 years.0 -
I still have my paper licence. But i may need a photo one soon. HGV expiring.
Do i renew it or let it go and keep my paper licence?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

but there is no practical reason they need an up to date address until they need to send you the renewal when you hit 70.
Which is why my green one still has my parents address that I moved out of back in 1979. Ditto for my kid brother who has lived in Germany for the last 20 years0 -

Whilst that's true, if it isn't your main address, you can get a fine because it is an offense not to tell the DVLA.
I had this debate with the police a few years ago as a PC was about to get heavy handed with me after a stop check (pulling out of a pub carpark at night so he thought i might have been a punter when actually i'd been at work). The address on my license didn't match the registered address of the car.
However, I also had a bike in storage at the address my license had on it so I got him to call that in and check I was the registered keeper of that. Given I was 'legal' depending on what mode of transport i was using he left it with "you need to get it changed."
I was asked to send a copy of my license off last time i got insurance too and they wouldn't accept it unless the address was correct.
As said though, if the address is fine then hang on to it. Much less hassle! What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

Not so.
You don't have to put your "main address" (whatever that means) on your dl. Just an address that you will get contact at.
Hello again.
The official line from the DVLA is/was:You must tell the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) immediately of any changes to your name, address or both.
So, as said, I rented a flat, i registered the car there but with no garage I kept the bike elsewhere. The Police officer quite clearly said he wanted to see a license at the address the vehicle was registered to.
The insurance company said the same thing as I had to surrender my paper license and get a new photocard one just for that reason.
None of them mentioned anything about an address they can contact you at (although I appreciate you can have multiple addresses if I remember correctly) and in the case of the insurance company they were not for budging at all.
With that in mind, for the ease of the OP and anyone else reading this, the best advice has to be get it changed to your current home (MAIN) address.
If the address is fine then not a problem and (as I agreed with you) saves the OP's mrs from shelling out to renew the card part. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

Nevertheless that is the case.
You are scaremongering over this issue.for the ease of the OP and anyone else reading this, the best advice has to

Says you!!! How are you qualified to be the one giving "best advice"?0
