I have a friend with bowel cancer who goes for chemo, injections to treat it which will go on for months, 6 I think. Leaves him shattered and he can only walk in about 50 yards then rest before he does another 50, plus he's in pain from disc problems as well as dealing with his diabetes. he's been turned down for dla, if me or friends didnt run him about to tesco, hospital etc i don't know how he'd cope. God knows how they decide these things

Because what you put in the forms and what the medical professionals say in their replies has a bearing on what or if you get it. If he can walk 50 yards, rest then walk another 50 yards. I am afraid he will not get the high rate of DLA. Being in pain from getting his Chemotherapy treatment, nor making sure he sorts out his medication or diet to gets his blood sugars right for his diabetes. Neither qualifies anyone to any range of the care component under certain circumstances too.

I took the time to read the original DLA legislation, the current method it's being handed out is way, way off the bill writers original intent on the benefit being one that assisted/allowed a disabled person to go to work.

It seems like those who are really are deserving of it don't get it, and these workshy layabouts like Willber get it so easily

My cousin has just been diagnosed with bowel cancer, he's just at the start of his journey with it, starting with radiotherapy and then an operation. I just want to say good on you and the others for helping your friend out, I bet he's so grateful to have wonderful friends like you

..or maybe just come on here under different identities to bulls**t and wind people up getting some kind of sick satisfaction in their pathetic inadequate lives? ;)

    Yes, or that :)

Unfortunately though, these people do exist :(

It's all in the planning and preparation as well as making sure that the claim form is completed correctly.

Willber, you probably don't need to go through all the trouble of a bogus claim. If you were to be examined i'm sure you'd be diagnosed with a MHP easily, as you clearly have issues. Feeling the need to goad people who are legitimately suffering on a subject as emotive as DLA, points to you being mentally unwell. I hear they pay good money for that.

Why don't you give that a go? You might even be able to get a car just like your likeminded friends.
