My contract with Vodafone finishes on 01/08/2013, Do I give my notice in on 01/07/2103?
I have asked about down grading my contract, which I can but what they didn't tell me was I would be starting a new contract at the lower price even though I told them I wanted to leave Vodafone.
I cant get a signal very often and will not pay £100 to get the sure signal and then it not working as it hasn't made a lot of difference to my sons signal albeit in a differnt area

If you call Vodafone and ask for your PAC code as soon as the code is used and the number is ported out to any other network as you will no longer have an account with Vodafone, it will cancel your contract and serve as your 30 days notice.
As you contract ends 1st August, you will be able to ask for your PAC code on the 1st July and the 30 days notice is chargeable.
Use the PAC code as soon as you get it, the notice wont start until you port the number.0 -
But this time, test out which network give you good reception - do a pilot run and don't trust the coverage charts!0

The notice period has to start when the PAC is issued, not used.0 -
You possibly know better what actually happens in practice, but I have never heard of Vodafone doing this and if what you say is correct, this breaches the T&C.
The notice period has to start when the PAC is issued, not used.
How can the notice period start when the PAC is issued ?
The customer may change his/her mind and decide not to leave. The PAC is valid for 30 days, if after this time it has not been used, the customer would need to ask for another PAC code.
You either ask to terminate and give 30 days notice or you ask for a PAC code and use it. At least by using a PAC code, there is no doubt that the contract has been cancelled.0 -
How? - Just read the T&C that say nothing about the PAC, that is just a technicality for porting the number to another network when terminating the contract. If the PAC is used 30 days after it was issued it makes no sense whatsoever to charge the customer for yet another month (assuming that the minimum term expired).
In formal terms, I give a notice that triggers the notice period that I will be charged for regardless of using the services or not and leaving or not leaving earlier. Then I get the PAC that technically may void the notice, but gives no rights to the network to charge me for extra 30 days if it is used at the end of the original 30 days notice period.
So far I've heard that only T-mobile are trying to pull a fast one in similar circumstances, but they always refund the extra charges when challenged as the charges are against the T&C.0 -

You expect a Voda rep to assist you in cancelling?0 -
Hi harrys nan,
For further help with the network issues you've mentioned I'd recommend following the troubleshooting steps in the Network Issues thread on our eForum.
Although I can't provide you with a link to it due to the posting guidelines which company representatives are obliged to follow, you'll find the thread in the eForum's Network section.
If you'd like to discuss this further could you email me with your details via the link in our profile here?
All you need to do is copy and paste the link into your web browser and it will take you to the Contact us form on our website. To make sure it reaches me could you also quote the code WRT135 - MSE in the subject line?
Once sent you'll receive an automated reply with a reference number. Could you update the thread with this and I'll get back to you as soon as possible?
Kind regards,
Lee
