Plain scones and my rich chocolate cake (laden with calories :rotfl: ), are the only things I bake regularly.
Anyone have a recipie for moist plain flapjacks? I tried the Mrs Beeton ones and they ended up more like toffee! Are jumbo oats better than porridge oats as well?0 -

Microwave flapjacks (recipe from on here) is the only one I have found that stays moist and really easy to eat (plus only takes 5 minutes to make - but longer till it cools enough to cut it without crumbling). Will go search for the link for you....

I make choc chip cookies every week from a fab recipie which calls for half a can of condensed milk. They are lovely and taste like high end luxury cookies from Miss Millies, etc. They are easy to make because I just mix all the ingredients together in the mixer, roll into small balls and bake in the oven for about 15 mins. With the other half of the can of condensed milk, I make millionaires shortbread, because I love it (though that's a bit more of a pain to make). I may have to stop doing this though as I eat far too many of them on my own! I also have the chocolate cookie master mix which someone posted a while back made up on stand by so can whip up an emergency batch quickly if we run out.
I made the choc chip cookies today and they were gorgeous. I was going to ask what to do with the rest of the can of condensed milk as I really need the whole can for millionaires shortcake( which I often make), But, as the cookies have nearly all gone, I guess you know what I will be doing with it. Great thread!
We have muffins or flapjack mostly. Have started making thriflady's baked seeds. Had some last night with HopeElizzy's squash bread.) I've a feeling that will become a favourite here too. It was so easy and delicious.
Also, fruit crumble. Going to try it with kiwi fruit at DS's request. Not really sure about that but might as well give it a go!May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -

I've done Queenie's everyday biscuits but they get eaten as they come out of the oven so I spend all afternoon cooking extra - which still get eaten far too quickly!! ...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I've just created a traybake (at least I think its an original) which was seriously nice, and I think may become a favourite. Took about 3 mins preparation time and 30 mins in the oven.
I put 6 oz butter, 6 oz caster sugar, 8 oz self raising flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 3 eggs and 3 tablespoons of milk in the mixer all together, and grated the zest of a sad looking orange over the top of the mix. Whizzed it together until all combined, then mixed in 100g of milk choc chips and baked at GM 4 for 30 mins.
Came out as orange choc chip cake slices.
Hubbie, DD and I thought they were great. DS who is a big chocolate cake fan and pretty disparaging of any other kind of cake said they were "good but not excellent" but that didn't stop him coming back for more!0 -
My way around that, rather than baking them all at once, is to fridge a roll and freeze a couple of rolls - then, I just slice some off the roll from the fridge and bake only what we need aka what I'm going to permit them to scoff :rotfl:
These biscuits are just too nice, just baked a batch Joels eaten 3 before he went to bed (but they have to be teddy shaped)DFW nerd club number 039'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts' :money: i will be debt free aug 2010

If you forget to take the butter out, put it in a bowl in the microwave for 10-15 seconds. If a little melts, it will still be OK. I always do it that way - its' so easy to cream in teh butter!0

Just finished making the chocolate chip cookies, they are fantastic - 10 already gone! I do a lot of home baking and I think these are the best I have ever made, the condensed milk does it!:j0
