It went 'green' VERY quickly..... (my previous pool was a huge rectangle one - really massive bigger than this one didnt seem to go green so quickly) just got some sachets in b&q (recommended in a previous post to fix this problem).

People have died in these things from legionnaires where the chemicals have not been maintained. Stick with public pools.

I agree with the above I have been looking at this:

    http://www.gardengames.co.uk/acatalog/Chemical_Starter_Kit_For_Above_Ground_Pools.html

but are there cheaper options that have the same effect? At the end of the day I don't want my Son to get ill or my wofe and myself either.

during last years hoespipe ban pools were exempt

Don't pay any attention to hosepipe bans - no-one will know that your filling up the pool even if there is a hosepipe ban in place. Your one pool will not make much of a difference!!!

An interesting thread. I have also been thinking of getting one of these pools. It appears there are two on thee market - Bestway and Intex. Just cant decide which is best.
It takes alot of water to fill which is a concern. If chemicals were used i wonder how long the water would last before it needs changing - and would it be any good for the garden afterwards.
Some seem to come with a small pump/filter. has anyone any experience of these? do they really make a difference... or would one without be just as good...
    So many questions - apologies!

i was told by the assistant there (argos)
    that she uses milton!!
i bought a cheaper bottle of asda's own
one bottle in a full pool should be enough to help but not too much to harm!!

Anyone else tried Milton? Sounds a cheaper alternative. How often would you have to add the Milton and how often do you have to change the water? My kids invested in one of these pools yesterday and on the off chance the weather might get better I want to be ready lol :rotfl:

i'm not sure. she said she puts in a bottle every week! but that seems a bit excessive to me, given the nature of the chemical! i have been trying to find some info over the net about it, but no joy as yet!
i'll let you know when i do
