selling a car with no MOT

I tried to sell my car on e-bay with a short MOT (enough for someone to drive away) but was let down and now have a car with no MOT or tax on my drive. Any ideas as scrap merchants are not interested. The car is driveable but not legal to drive.

With proper insurance its legal to drive to a garage for an MOT.

Sounds like it's badly damaged and will fail on the next MOT without a lot of work?
If scapyards won't buy it from you will they take it for nothing? You can always try and sell the remaining good parts and give them what's left of the shell.0 -
If the scrapyards aren't interested in it, i presume you're not going to get a lot. What about giving it away to charity ..... giveacar.co.uk or phone 020 7736 4242
I saw a piece in the British Heart Foundation magazine and it said they'll take vehicles away for you and you can nominate whatever charity you want the money to go to. They have the option that only 50% is given to your charity and the other half could be returned to you.

When i scrapped a car a few years back i took the engine/ gearbox out and found a local company who collected on behalf of the local Fire station for them to practice on cutting up cars0

You should be able to drive it to get an MOT, but then there is the problem that you can't insure it without an MOT. Do you have access to someone else with a car who could perhaps tow you to a garage to get the MOT done?0

You must have insurance if you're being towed - there's plenty of case law to say that someone being towed is driving. It's quite possible to get insurance with no MOT, but there's not a lot of point driving it to the garage to get an MOT done if it's only going to fail.0

Do tell us why you cannot insure a car that has no MOT.

Ignore this.
You don't need mot or tax to buy insurance.
(Although you cannot buy tax without an mot you can still drive an untaxed car to its mot)0
