You're probably right. Anyway Dom's getting his deposit back now so it has all worked out in the end.0

I will be paying all the amounts back, anyway. I never wished for it to come this far, but I was effectively "shafted" on the deal that was offered to me. The original deal was to have the deposits of us all transferred to the new property (same owner). Now I live elsewhere with a higher rent (if I were to actually ever sign the proper contract) and miles from where I wanted to be.
Thanks for the previous posts. Allow me to process them and I'll get back to you.0 -
There are still gaps in information on which to advise.
* were utilities included/excluded on original tenancy?
* what rent arrears are there?
* what other arrears are there?
* howmuch is the deposit?
* when did Periodic Tenancy start? What notice if any has either side given the other?
* is this an HMO?
* what was the exact agreement with the property move? Temporary? Did the tenancy end? Was a new Tenancy started? If so, on what basis?
I sympathise with Bebewoo - the LL does appear to have been flexible/supportive so far but to have run out of patience, though as tbs says this does not excuse circumventing due process
What does seem clear though is
* there are arrears which need paying off (or which the LL can claim)
* the deposit was not registered (which makes the LL liable)
What exactly do you want as an outcome OP?
* to stay? in which property?
* to get your deposit back? and not pay the arrears?
* to maximise your cash (sue LL re non registration)?
* to move out? when?0
