The title says it all. It's for my friend&colleague UK holiday.
Low usage. No downloading/streaming, but some primitive online games for 5 y.o. daughter.

Will be grateful for any suggestions.

    Cheapest modem £9.99

They can just use it with the common or garden T-Mobile offer or you can unlock it(99p via eBay) for them for use with any SIM.

Would just go ebay for modem as niftdigits suggests and then just use a 3 sim

What will they be using it on. They are not as cheap but a MiFi device would allow more than 1 connecting by Wifi, useful if they have a tablet and a computer, which may be more use.

They also work by WiFi so no need to set up drivers and software on the PC that may give issues when they return to home and the regular connection.

They don't have a tablet and he refuses to have a smartphone on principle. I don't see any point in paying extra for MiFi.

No problem, you asked for suggestions, dongles are cheaper but only useful for single devices.

If they have a Mac make sure the dongle you get has drivers for the mac, sometimes they need to be downloaded from the maker, best knowing before they leave home..
