Phoning an 0844 number from Orange?

Apologies in advance because this has probably been covered many, many times before on this forum, but I'm a lazy reader and can't be bothered looking through older threads.

Does anyone know how much it costs to phone an 0844 number from an Orange pay monthly mobile, or where I can find an easily accessible price guide that gives such information?

I've found a couple of links on Google but they're not up to date, and the Orange website is as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

Thanks.

From the Orange web site, on pay monthly it's 35p per minute...

Most alternatives to these rip off numbers can be found on the saynoto0870 web site, or the similar 0870 App...

Thank you. Clearly the Orange website works for some, but not others. :0)

The PDF price guide is available at www.orange.co.uk/paymonthlyguide

Calls to 08 numbers are 35 pence per minute. From what I can gather (and it doesn't surprise me) calls are billed per whole minute. So a call lasting 1 minute and 5 seconds will cost 70 pence, for example.

Thank you. I've just checked out the Sayno site and found an alternative and cheaper number which I can call from my mobile for the price of a landline call.

    This site gets results!

Indeed it does. It works by harnessing the power of users.

I urge all users to notify us of entries that require attention such as unverifieds that work (and so can be listed as verified) and any which don't work (say why, not recognised, doesn't answer etc). This helps everyone because it saves others wasting their time trying non-working numbers.

The method I prefer is via the Requests section of the forum. I am forum moderator Dave.

Some companies have multiple 08 numbers which often go to the same place and so an alternative for one will work for all. Or they sometimes replace 08 numbers and in these cases users should let us know.

In the course of my investigations last night I noticed that BT now provide an 03 number for use by those who need to ring them on a mobile to report landline faults (its listed in the BT phone book).
So even the big boys/ girls are catching on that alternatives to 0800 numbers make not only financial, but customer service sense.
  • Just use an app called weq4u, it works 95% of the time for me and the no charge for queueing is a stroke of genius.

Some aren't doing it for our benefit, when the European Consumer Rights Directive comes into force it will force them to offer either 01,02 or 03 contact numbers. The government only has until the end of the year to bring it into UK law.
Traders who operate telephone hotlines allowing the consumer to contact them in relation to the contract will not be able charge more than the basic telephone rate for the telephone calls.
