Are you ok with a Studio?
I actually think these flats in Shepherds bush are good value. A bit above your budget, but I think they would be great 'renters' if you needed, and some could take an extra wall to make a small bedroom. I think there are significant service charges in that building to consider though.

As an investor I am contemplating getting one. The yield is good, and the area is always popular.
It genuinely saddens me that such tiny rabbit hutches are deemed suitable for human habitation.
I left the south-east for this very reason.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -

It shows I have lived here too long as I was surprised you could get that much for that price.:rotfl:0 -
Should keep saving for more deposit? Look for a better wage in a new job? Or take a punt on something less than desirable for what I can currently afford?
Have you considered buying with a friend, or looking further afield?0 -
Collier's Wood? It'd be walkable from the new crossrail station if you don't sell for 10 years or so, too.

Mitcham would also be within budget, but I'm not keen on it in general. Sorry to anyone who lives there.
Edit: Oops, just seen I've been beaten to it! That exact property has already been linked.Saving for deposit: Finished! :j
House buying: Finished!
Next task: Lots and lots of DIY0 -
I'm following this thread cos I want to buy this year but running out of time as I can't decide on where to buy. I'll love to buy in North London but with 40k deposit and low salary not much choice0

It's not impossible to get a studio or 1 bedroom for that range. Have you considered shared ownership?
You probably need to consider East or South East London.0 -

Mitcham has had 4 major housing developments built/being built in the last year or so, Merton Council have finally started to spend money outside of Wimbledon and have secured funding to regenerate Mitcham town centre, so hopefully things might change for the town.0 -

I hope it goes well, but I don't think £3million will go far when the town centre seems to be built on an M25 junction and the main addition to the infrastructure is a giant new incinerator. A real shame and I hope I'm wrong.Saving for deposit: Finished! :j

AHHH yes MITCHAM! An area of London you couldn't pay me to live in! I actually booked a viewing for this property and then cancelled it due to the postcode!0 -

Yes, the postcode put me off! Its more Mitcham than Colliers Wood.0
