Try cancelling a 3 mobile phone account

I have tried to cancel my account with 3 since 9 January 2013. The email I sent was responded to and accepted. On 8 March 2013 I phoned and told account still open. Told the Asian lady this account had better be closed she stated someone would call me. Guess What no-one has. I went to my bank and cancelled the Direct Debit as told to 3 and bank duly cancelled. 3 then reset the direct debit and has continued to take payments. I went into my bank and gave them my feelings on this and they agreed that the direct debit should not have been paid. I have now received a bill from 3 for 3 months payments and still the account is open. I posted on 3 facebook page and they have also ignored this. How many more times do these people need to be informed that I do not require their services any longer. I also have been put to a great deal of unnecessary travel, discussion and not least out of pocket expense. Please can you help!!!!

Never do the bit in bold. ever! If they take the money then it's best to claim it back after rather than let three trash your credit file.

In the email they sent back do you have 100% written confirmation that the account was cancelled? Where you given your final bill date etc...? As far as i'm aware three don't accept email as a way to cancel.

This is one of those subjects that crop up here regularly, and there is only one answer, you need to follow the contract terms and conditions for cancellation. Sending an e-mail, leaving a message under the door mat, or whatever, has no validity. The only way is to phone them on 333 from a Three phone or on 0843 373 3333 from a land line.

Has your contract expired? A common thread seems to be customers jumping the gun and ceasing the direct debit when the contract still has some time to go.

And the safest way to ensure the number is indeed terminated after the phone call is to request a PAC number when you make the call to terminate and use it, even if you just transfer to a PAYG sim.

And to add, DON'T just cancel the direct debit and put your head in the sand, it's short sighted and stupid, and will only hurt you.

Why not ask for help on someone who can help you on this? I think you can file a complain for this company.

He is a spammer, all his posts are similar. I think it might be an advanced spam bot that can take words from previous posts and make a semi sensible sentence.

I've hit the :spam: button as well.
