I can understand why you are worried but until the foreign office come out and say that British people shouldn't travel to Turkey then the tour operators are not under any obligation to let you cancel or change your holiday free of charge.
The best thing you can do is call the company that you have booked with and ask what their position is regarding the explosion and future bookings.:j Debt free since 31/01/08:j

check out the fco.gov.uk and look under the travel advise by country and find Turkey... they have updated the info there re the bombings however, the FCO are currently not advising against travel to Turkey.0

you have to go with your gut feeling, if you feel that you will not be able to enjoy yourself/be on edge thewhole time it's not worth it, but you have to look at the world today and most countries that you name will be at some risk from one thing or another
I have 2 young children and to be honest with you, if I was you, I wouldn't go but I would only take this descission once I had established more facts - if the forgeign office say to stay clear then I would definately not take my family to a place that they may be in danger
good luck and go with what your heart tells you to do0 -

i can't advise you on what to do with your 3 young children, but the FCO website indictes that despite the explosion the threat level has not changed.
i have never been to Turkey, but the explosion was in Ankara which (according to this website) is 670km away - so bear that in mind too.:happyhear0 -
my wife and i are booked to go to olu deniz again ! in fact 3 weeks time and i worry a lot about the bombings which are becoming more frequent as time goes on i know that kusadasi has been bombed before so theres no use pretending thats its safe and most people say that you should not let the bombers rule your life and go to turkey but as always they are usually the ones who are booked for benidorm. its up to you im afraid but i love turkey and the majority of people there are very friendly but its decision you have to make for you and your family regards0

oooh olu deniz thats where we wanted to go but couldnt get the dates we wanted.and had probs with room for all 5 of us.
every day i seem to be getting told more and more to put me off lol.
today i was told how cockroaches climb all over you...ewwwww
but obviously my main fear is my childrens safety and i have such a bad feeling.not sure why but i did as soon as hubby told me he booked there.0 -
hel8itch - can you say, hand on heart, that you feel safe about going - if the answer is no, then you know what you have to do
In reality, it's two weeks away, that could change your life if anything should go wrong, but the same can be said for crossing the road, you take your life in your hands everyday.
you are having bad feelings about this holiday - these feelings are only going to get stronger the closer you get to the departure, are you going to be able to relax whilst on holiday? if not, they why put yourself through this?
If it's about the money you have spent then perhaps you can get the holiday changed? if not then maybe you cna get your doctor to sign you off sick so you can get out of it that way (I don't know if this works or not) but at the end of the day, it's only money, they has already been spent and you can not put a cost on your security and happiness
good luck with your choice0 -
I hav never seen a cockroach in Turkey.. and i have been to 4 diff places!
Speak with your tour operator.. they will hav all the inof u need..x
Good Luck0 -
Hi
Please don't worry I have been holidaying at the resort just up the coast from kusadasi, Cesme for the last 4 years.
We have travelled alot and never been too a place like turkey. Its clean and the food is lovely and fresh and the people are friendly. Its a nice location too, as the area gets a nice breeze so even if its very hot its okay, you can live with it. The area is cold in winter and has snow and rain so again its very pretty and green.
I know about the bombings, they have happened over the last couple of years in Cesme and Kusadasi. Its an outgoing problem with the Kurdish terriosts, but think about it this way, the spanish had lots of bombs until recently because of Eta and no one thinks twice about going there. Think on London. Where could be more dangerous Britain or Turkey? I know its a risk but at least the Turkish People will be on high alert.
I hope you have a lovely holiday. But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more0 -
I'm off to Istanbul for a long weekend in a couple of weeks and I'm not letting these bombs put me off.
What is for you will not go by you in life!0
