How many characters is the reference number?
16 characters is normal for a credit card, 18 characters is the maximum for a reference.MFiT-T3 #149: {Q4/14} (£46,447)-->(£0) ~ +£46,447=100%

The full credit card 16 digit number as requested. Santander finally admitted the issue was that the online banking system and the back office system they use to make the payments were showing two different reference numbers. Apparently I had amended the ref number online after I originally set up the SO and this amendment was not transferred correctly, and I should not have been able to amend the ref number online.
Its true when I set up the SO when I went back to double check it I has missed a digit so I used the amend screen to put it right. Something apparently should not be able to happen, yet checked this morning and you still can.0
