Why not set up a fixed amount direct debit once you have sorted this issue out ?
IIRC, MBNA stopped offering 'static' DDs a good while ago now. I believe the only options are minimum and full...unless they've changed?

I have a DD set up for the min payment and a SO for regular fixed payment, thus giving me the control of the regular payment and the insurance that a payment is always made with the DD guarantee. You can no longer set a fixed DD with MBNA neither would I want to for control reasons.

This same CC card account has had other SO set from the same bank acc in the past and no issues. I have also used the faster payment service to make one off payment to the card from the same bank acc, again no issues

and what information / evidence would I need from both parties to make my complaint, as at the moment its all call centre crap, can I ask for records from each they have of the transactions?

    UPDATE

OK after a long winded fight with Santander they have finally admitted they are at fault and agreed to compensate me for charges and interest incurred on my credit card and compensate me for the time its taken them to resolve...

    First Question:
What kind of compensation should I be looking at, so far I have:
-5 hours of phone calls to Santander and Virgin customer services
-4 letters and emails of complaint
-3 conflicting responses / lies from Santander
-and this had taken 6 weeks to resolve + stress and so on

What kind of compensation would be reasonable to expect??

    Second Question:

How do I calculate the financial costs..they have not made a payment of £70 for 3 consecutive months to a credit card with a 0% balance transfer rate, with 3 0% offer all ending at different dates. A payment had been made the card of £25 a month via a separate DD agreement (nothing to do with the claim) so I have not incurred any late payment charges, although I would have was this not to be in place.

If the payments had been made then the balance of the 1st 0% rate would have been cleared all bar a few pounds.

As its stands I am now paying interest on expired 0% deal and consequently as my balance is now higher the other carefully timed deals will now incur interest charges if I carry on paying the original amount I planned to in the set out SO.

What am I right to ask for? I was thinking the interest charges so far and the cost to transfer the debt to another deal so I don't pay any more interest.

Or calculate the total amount of interest I will incur if I keep to paying the original 70pm until the debt is cleared.

What I would really like is them to pay off the £200 that they should have paid + compensation doubt that thought.

Not wanting to be greedy just want what is owed and fair...any thoughts

Santander agreed to pay the handling fees to move the debt to a 17 month 0% balance transfer card, cover the interest charges and paid me £250 compensation.

Don't forget to check your credit history at experian, equifax, and callcredit.
MBNA may have marked you down for non payment at the correct time.

Even if Santandire have done a deal on the finance side of things, it is MBNA who report to the credit reference agencies.

Had a direct debit set up to pay the min charge on top of the standing order, so no late payments on the account
