moving home & water meters

hi all
can anybody enlighten my daughter on this subject
4 years ago she bought her first home and was sent a water bill every year which was not a problem
she has now sold that house and bought another property just round the corner same age as her house but with one more bedroom and they to recieve there water bills the same way but she has been told by her estate agent that she has to have a water meter fitted to the new property .my sisterinlaw is also an estate agent all be in the north of england we are in the south and as siad she has never been told that only that new property built have water meters fitted so who is right? she comes under three valley water

After deciphering that post, I think you are basically saying does your daughter have to have a water meter when she moves even if she doesn't want one?
If the Three Valleys website is to be believed, then I'm afraid she has no choice.0 -

Nothing wrong with a water meter, in fact they can be a godsend. We are a family of 6 and by having a water meter fitted have saved £120 a year, even thought he water company said it was a bad idea and it would cost us a fortune. I think the official position with all water companies is they can insist on a meter being fitted when the property changes hands(new name on account)
That said many of the companies don't seem to bother enforcing that regulation; which is not surprising when, in the majority of cases, a meter means they get less revenue!0
