Are there no busy roads to play in rather than coming on here spouting rubbish?
Shocking news for you - you can fix cars now, you don't have to replace them when they break! I'd go into more detail but you seem so out of touch with reality I'm not going to bother.
A bulb blew on my car, so should I replace the whole car?0 -

As before your 'advice' is absolute drivel.0 -

Whether the battery is difficult to get out is not the issue. They have chosen to attempt the job. I am interested to know what the fault is... I also would like to some answers to the questions I asked...
That isn't for any other reason, other than I might be able to help. From what has been said, whoever has attempted to change this battery isn't fit to put air into the tryes!0 -
It's not possible to say the fitter has knackered the car, changing a battery is childs play that is very hard to messup, so not sure at all what he could possibly have done to it.
The problem you have is getting the fault diagnosed, if it turns out not to be Halfords fault and is a deeper problem with an old car you could end up with a large bill for the work done to diagnose it.0 -
Does the car have a retro fit alarm/immobilser on it?0

Hi. Just looking for some advice on this issue that has happened today.
My girlfriend has been having a few problems with the battery on her car recently. The battery light would come on and the car would cut out. This afternoon, she went to Halfords to buy a new battery and paid to have it fitted. I wasn't there, but she told me the lad doing the work was ragging the battery about to try and get it out. When he put the new one in, the car wouldn't start. He then removed that and put the old battery in; still wouldn't start. He then suggested that it might be that the car has no petrol, as he had been revving it quite a bit trying to get it started, so she had to buy a petrol can and walk to a petrol station to buy petrol to put in the car. It still didn't work. It is now that they start to try shifting the blame elsewhere and start saying "it could be something bigger, with your engine". She has had to leave the car there overnight and get a taxi home. I'm going to go in the morning and see what is happening, as she is in work. The car drove in there, and it is only since their lad messed with it that it is now not starting.
I'm just wondering what my possibilities are here. I'm expecting them to fix it with no cost, as like I said, it drove in, so it should be driving back out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If the battery light would come on and the car would cut out, then it's highly unlikely to be a problem with the battery, as running the engine should be charging the battery surely...? Therefore changing the battery wouldn't solve the problem, so probably not Halford's fault!
I would start by double checking all the wires on the alternator and check they're not rusty or have a loose connection.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0
