BlackBerry contract help!

Looking to take out a new BlackBerry. My budget is ideally £14 a month. Tight, I know.

I have another phone with a huge allowance, so this is only for BlackBerry services and e-mail / business use.

If I'm correct, 250mb a month data should be enough for e-mail use alone, and with BB services, BBM should be covered too?

I really want the 9790 but doubt I can get it on my budget. I'm not really looking for cashback offers and would prefer a straight tariff as I haven't got the cushion to take the hit and then get the money back.

Thanks for any help!

Have you thought of getting a phone separately from a SIM-only contract? You can probably get a decent secondhand Curve 9360 or Bold, for about £100 to £150, so about £5 a month over two years. Then for example Vodafone SIM only is £10.50 a month for 250MB, 300 minutes and unlimited texts and includes BBM and email.

I wouldnt go into a contract at all just for BBM services, for 2 reasons.
BBM services should be available to android and iphone users by summer this year, and you can get the BBM service currently on tmobile payg for 20 pounds for 6 months with no contract or further top up required in that 6 month period. over a year if you buy the phone for 120 pounds or less you are better off and not tied into a contract.

that sounds a good deal but can't locate it on the T-Mobile website. When I googled it the only mention was over 2 years ago on HUKD. Is it advertised on the website please?

9790 is expensive as new BB phones do not do BIS you just use data at cost and with no bis compression it can mount up.

Got a Curve 9320 and it's fine for all your needs as a BIS tool, £90 on Orange prepaid or best deal in my opinion if you want unlimited data is 3 £16 a month, at that price it's worth getting a BlackBerry Tablet at £100 to make full use of the unlimited data via BlackBerry Bridge function I use it as my main internet access home and away for business use this combo could be great for you ;-) Sometimes you need a bigger screen and with no additional data costs and this combo works, on Curve you simply uncheck 'switch to mobile network for steaming' and all data is included on Orange via your BIS. It may be a bit slower than Orange due to BIS compression but with a 3G signal even steaming video via BIS is 98% of the time flawless with little buffering.

Well 500MB don't go very far browsing and background app usage for me on EE4G so be careful what apps you load to the BlackBerry as it can easy eat through 250MB ;-)
