I am very sorry to hear of all your troubles OP. You both appear to be under incredible strain financially and emotionally.

Firstly with regard to your debt, have you contacted any debt advice agencies? StepChange is meant to be extremely good and they have trained staff who could look at your situation in detail and advise you of a workable way forward. There is a debt advice board on this forum with people who are very experienced in this area. I am sure they would be happy and wiling to offer guidance to you also.

If you have definately decided to split up then you need to break that news to your partner as sensitively as possible. Before taking that step is it possible that counselling might help you both? Could that be something you and your partner would be willing to give a go? A break-up is made easier when you can feel that you did everything possible to make it work, before making the agonising decision to call a day on things. Maybe you are already at that stage though. I just wanted to suggest it in case it might help you both.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.
