Nokia 6230i from O2 online
Does anyone know when this phone is available from https://www.o2.co.uk?
I emailed them and they didn't answer the question.
I have my current contract with them and am due an upgrade in the next few weeks. I like my current tariff (200 anyone minutes, 500 sms/mms messages) and don't want to change.
I know that other providers / shops have it now and I'd be tempted, but they don't do a comparable tariff, well at least I haven't seen one.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

I'm also waiting for them to get this phone.
It has been released by Nokia but none of the 4 networks have on their website yet (orange say "coming soon"). I think it may be them just waiting until they have (significant) stock in first before they start selling it. The Carphone warehouse don't even have it on their website yet.
You could ring o2 Online sales on freephone 0800 0643535 (this is NOT customer services) and enquire with them. I did and was told they would ring me back when they get it in stock. They may or may not ring me back but the more people that ring the more they are going to try and ensure they get the stock asap.
In the mean time I'd hold stick with current contract for next couple of weeks anyhow as I assume by then they would have it in stock.0 -
thanks bbb_uk I think I'll wait and see.0

I agree they can be slow but in this instance they're not the only ones because the other networks don't have it on their own websites yet.
The 6230 was very popular and it could be that Nokia are having problems meeting demand for its successor. The link could have ordered a lot more than what Nokia had anticipated as could the other companies - although it's kind of strange that its just the networks themselves that haven't got it (or at least they haven't updated their websites yet).0 -
maybe the link hasnt really got any, maybe there just making out they have as ive noticed the carphone warehouse, e2save etc havent got then either yet, and as you say the networks havent yet.
cant see it being long though now, but alot of people seem to be waiting for them so i do hope they can meet the demand0 -
You're probably right.m00nie wrote:maybe the link hasnt really got any, maybe there just making out they have as ive noticed the carphone warehouse, e2save etc havent got then either yet, and as you say the networks havent yet.

For example, the 6230i is listed in the carphonewarehouse magazine for April and labeled "available now", bearing mind the magazine was available from beginning of April and yet to date their own website haven't got it listed.
I suspect because the magazine was published possibly early march or something and at the time of going to publish they were informed by Nokia their stores would have them in but after the it was printed Nokia may have pushed back the release until just recently!
I could be wrong but their stores could have had in stock at the beginning of April but I suspect not.0 -
I've been looking for the same information. I found it said somewhere (sadly I don't remember where !) that O2 would be releasing it on 30 April. I'll see if I can find it again...

That's possibly true for all the other networks as I've been asking around and they all pretty much say it'll be the end of this month/beginning of next.0 -
I've just checked on the nokia site and they have changed it back from avaliable to coming soon.It still says the first quarter of 2005 but they must of found a problem with the software and delayed the release of them so they don't have to recall and flash them all aagin like they had to with some versions of the 6230......©..®..(TM) NothingVentured.

There seems to be a few who have it already, but generally most retailors don't have it.
There are threads on it at moby memory http://forums.mobymemory.com/messages.aspx?ForumID=48
and digital spy (sorry can't find the thread any more)
I think it's a case of wait and see.
Last year when I wanted the original, the release date on o2 kept slipping and then they wanted to charge me £50 for it and I settled on a T630, I'll not be making that mistake again.
For the record the t630 is a good phone, but does not have all the bells that the 6230 has. I want one!0
