Cash for clothes

I don't really think the charity shop would want this stuff as it's not modern, just stuff that's been in cupboards and wardrobes for 20 years since it was last worn.
Not something that they could sell on which is why I thought of the cash for clothes places thinking it would all just be recycled for the fabric.0 -
both times I took stuff to the local cash for clothes they didn't really care what was left. Except they wouldn't take my wife's old dressing gown. But they took shoes (paired only but didn't care about quality or age) and handbags.
We took the designer/ new with labels on stuff to the charity shop to resell.0 -
I've taken loads of clothes down to cash 4 clothes and they never check what's in my bag's.. could have had a brick in and amongst my stuff for all they realiseWin's of 2014 so far-Maxfactor mascara, £50 Pizza Express Voucher, Dr Oetker Pizza, Nuby sippy cup :j:beer:0

AgeUK will take your stuff. When I was taking them stuff almost daily on clearing out Dads house, they told me that they would even take old/damaged clothing as what they can't put in the shop, they sell as rags.

Seriously, red cross will take anything, when my gran died my mum didnt want her stuff sold in the shop, she volunteers there and it would have been too hard to see her clothes on the shelves, but she donated loads of it for rag. It doesnt matter how old it is, they'll take it0 -
Thanks hippygran and paulineb. I'd be more than happy to see it go for rags if a charity can make anything from it.
There's a red cross place nearby, I'll ring them in the morning and make sure they know it's not really going to be resaleable as clothing in their shops.0 -
There's a place near me that will give you £20 for a 10kg bag of designer stuff, as long as they are all BNWT.
If I had 10kg of BNWT designer gear, I'd flo it for a profit on eBay rather than give it to those cheeky sods!
When I worked in a charity shop we took everything. If we couldn't sell it, the rag man would pay a good price for it. Every item helped.
Nowadays it seems that charities want everything for nothing.
I don't think these are charities that are rejecting items, they appear to be businesses. As far as I am aware charity shops are still willing to take all clothing items.0 -
You're lucky you phoned first. Going in can be really embarrassing.
I went in to Cash 4 Clothes recently for the first time. Long queue in shop and assistant takes each item out of your bag and holds it up to check it before putting it in container on scales or giving it back to you as rejected. Imagine clothes which you thought were in good condition, but are not even good enough for charity!!
Man in front of me was so disgusted he walked out and left his bag of rejected clothes on the floor.
My 'rejects' was cloth that I'd bought to make curtains, but never got around to making up. Thought this might have come in useful for someone.
Wow!
Every time I've been the whole lot gets weighed en masse; none of it is gone through and I get paid.:cool:Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

And people are donating less to charity shops because of the cash for clothes shops.
If people are short of money though then why shouldn't they take it where they can get a bit back?Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

I have gone to a place in Liverpool. They just weight the black plastic bag and don't check through the stuff. Also they pay 60p per kilo. :j
I am going up there with a friend in June and we are both taking our stash to raise some money :money:0
