FAB PIPEX Deal - Existing Customers READ on....

I don't know if they will offer everyone this? But it's definitely worth a try!

I rang up yesterday as I had decided to cancel Pipex mini standalone broadband (£14.99 a month) and go with Newnet (£9.99 a month).

I just explained I wanted to leave and they put me through to the cancellation department to request a MAC code. The customer assistant asked why I was leaving who I was going with etc. and then immediately offered me Pipex Mini AND Anytime Calls for £9.99 a month! I can honestly say I was speechless and being a "moneysaver" always expecting the best deal!!! - that takes a lot. I didn't even need to haggle and I probably would have stayed with them for just the broadband for £9.99 but with the calls too I was SOLD! This is for a 12 month contract.

I know everyone likes a moan about their ISP Pipex included, but I have been with then for 18 months and not had any problems so if you are already with them and happy with the service it's well worth a go. That works out £9.99 + £11 BT line rental = £20.99 (the Carphone warehouse Talk Talk same package is £20 which is one of the best prices around! but there are horror stories galore!).

Hope that helps someone. :money:

Interesting. I'm looking to switch from Pipex, purely on cost alone. Will take this into consideration when requesting my MAC.

My first post - registered due to this thread.

Thanks for the tip. I was on £24.99 for half-meg and calls, having been 'taken over' from Homecall.
Spoke to Pipex (using 0800 no.), got a chap who spoke English AND knew what he was on about (the only one?).
Ended up transfering the line rental to Pipex, going up to 8meg (he said 1.5meg realistically, agreeing with my checks) and all calls and saving £12.50 pcm.
About 4 months ago the calls became a bit irrelevant - I went from £75 per quarter saving me about £50/q to making about 20 calls/q, so was looking for a cheaper deal - this'll do nicely for now.

    Peter.

Though going with Pipex for line rental, you lose the free caller display option, also they can prevent you from using cheap call access numbers, so as long you only plan to make calls that are included, it can save you money, once you start making calls to non-included numbers, you will find because you are paying higher rates than you can get, it starts quickly eating into your savings.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Well, didn't have caller display as I haven't made calls via BT for 2 years; don't make many 0845 and 0870 calls (usually find alternatives - tip: look at 'Contact Us', find the number for calling from overseas and use that).

    I do like your sig. - I, too, am a pedant :D

Yeah, I usually look for the overseas alternative, or look on SayNoTo0870 (added a few numbers there myself).

I used to be with Pipex when they used to be extremely reliable, but I jumped just before BT started charging ISPs differently.

Only had to call Pipex a couple of times, the 2nd time was for my MAC, didn't use their 0845 number, though I see they now advertise an 0870 number.

When shopping and asked "Can you enter your PIN number", I often state, "No, I'm afraid I can only enter my PIN" or something along those lines.
