Rubbish. Try hitting one with a hammer, rather just reading legislation on line, and trying to be an armchair expert.0 -

It's still a hard brittle plastic used for plugs.
I think the point was that your post started "It just shows how little you know ..."There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

Which is why it's correctly spelt by me in the quoted text you included in your mis-spelt one? How odd.0 -

"Last edited by securityguy; 17-05-2013 at 4:26 PM". Your post quoting the post (which has the correct spelling) was made on "20-05-2013 at 1:09 AM". So the spelling was correct almost 2.5 days before you quoted it?0 -

Well it does show how little he knows, because it is obvious that all he has done is to read the legislation to try and sound clever. But really he has no knowledge, and has obviously never broken a plug, or he would realise how brittle they are.
I'm no expert on the subject, but I know who I would rather take notice from.0 -

That's probably because I had the post open on my laptop for a few days before I replied to it. This would also explain the change in spelling since securityguy's post.0 -
We are getting off topic now.
The fact is that you should avoid using adaptor blocks, as advised by most organisations who are in the know (despite what a couple of members on here say).0 -
Jeez guys, how to go way over the top and scare the OP off.
A 4 way extension with another plugged into it would still work fine and be safe enough. Adapters and low current IT equipment is hardly likely to cause a fire if care is taken not to strain anything. They would all be protected for excess current by the same 13A fuse.
As for bakelite and brittle plugs, there have not been brittle plugs produced for a long time. Maye a plug thats many years old gets brittle but it take many years to get to that state.0 -

I'm a qualified electrical/electronic engineer and I've never broken a plug in the 30+ years since qualifying. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

How many did you break before qualifying?
I'm also a qualified electrical/electronic engineer (of 28 years standing), and I also have never accidentally broken a plug. (Deliberately, yes. But not accidentally).0
