Mon 13th May - What small DFW things will you do today?

Hello Monday money-savers,
Oh dear, sounds like lots of you have the Monday blues this morning. I hope things pick up as the morning progresses. Ups & downs in moods are perfectly normal, especially for women, with our complex hormonal workings, so the important thing is to accept this when it happens, & take care of ourselves till we feel it lift.....the most unhelpful thing is to beat ourselves up for feeling low.
So far today, I have:
*Done laundry overnight on Economy 7, at 30 deg with my stingy eggcup of powder.
*All laundry blowing on the line...tho' am watching out for the big rain which is apparently coming.
*Did rubber chicken. It has already done a roast dinner for 4 on Sat, but I have enough for chicken slices in gravy, mash & veg tonight, a mexican-style chicken pizza tomorrow, probably 2 packed lunches, plus I've frozen the bones to add to my next stock pot as I don't need to make any stock this week.
*Ran out of bread, so put a loaf on in breadmaker.
*Did a few surveys.
*Did a competition.
Still to do:
*Send last few ebay invoices & sort out people who need combined postage on multiple items.
*Wrap ebay parcels (19 of them, but I've got a good audiobook on the go to keep me going)
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Do the sums from the energy meter readings I took yesterday, compare with previous years & check that useage is definitely droppping now that heating is off.
Think that's it for me, must crack on with the ebay wrapping now as have promised to post it all out tomorrow & Weds. Take care, everyone,

Hi all, I dont think ive posted on this thread before but what I was going to do today was buy a new notebook however I found one in my filing cabinet that only had two pages used. And tbh if I had gone to the shops I would have spent more than I really needed to. so a saving0

Morning guys  thanks for starting us off carrie
seems like everyone needs a (((hug))) today. Must be something in the air if so many of us are feeling the pinch. Hope you all find something to smile about in your day and try to remember that this too will pass x
Bobarella thanks for you advice re work! Have decided I will call tomorrow and say I have it. That way I can get the best of both worlds. An extra couple of days off but start in time to get in on May's payroll
alley hope you and the mrs have a lovely break x
My plans for the day:
* checked banking
* reconciled bank account, receipts & spreadsheet - gosh I really need to do this every couple of days or it is a big fat pain and I get all confused!
* checked cc statement. Noticed there was a pending transaction when I hadn't bought anything. Called cc turns out it is an automatic travel ins policy. Got that baby refunded & canceled
* all meals from stores
* dinner as per meal plan, chicken out of the freezer (have been inspired by "A girl called jack"s blog on food. I'm making this tonight:
http://agirlcalledjack.com/2013/02/12/spring-piggy-posh-nosh-33p/
and using up things in the fridge/freezer, a little double cream rather than yogurt. Not sure what my costings will be? 1 chicken breast, leftover veg in the bottom of the fridge, 1/2 an onion, using a sachet of mustard procured from restaurant on Sat)
* make a lettuce & potato soup to use up lettuce in fridge & portion of frozen mash in freezer
* do some filling and sanding
* go and collect some dandellions to make some wine - my first attempt!
* going to meet oh for lunch. I want to go for a walk along the beach - let's see what he wants...
* visit dd after seeing oh
* i have used a stain remover to get marks off of a top where I splashed some spag sauce on it at the weekendhas come out :T

Hi All
2 posts in one day, whats that all about! I was amazed to see in Morrisons today that they are now doing a special offer on packs of 3 really nice red, green and yellow peppers, just £1. This is amazing considering you usually pay 80p per pepper, and I was already impressed Lidl had reduced them to 50p per pepper. So 3 for £1 is fab. I know you can get cheaper packs of peppers but generally I find the basics ones tend to comprise of a bag of smallish green peppers and one token other colour, so big proper ones, are good.
Found a marked down trifle for £1.15 (from £3.50) and 1kg of chicken thighs for £1.55 (from £4.50) I do find you get more mark downs in Morrisons than other shops.
Ok all for now.
@Determined New MS - Great, sounds like a plan. Plus I like a Girl called Jack too, she is a real inspiration, let us know how the meal works out." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Seems to be that Monday feeling
Well, a positive for you all - 4 more days until the weekend!!!!!!!!
Sorry to hear a couple of you are feeling down. I can only reiterate my own story - before Christmas was so stressed and unhappy, I wasn't myself, couldn't keep anything down and cried all the time. I made the decision to go part time - best thing I ever did. I do 3 days a week at school, but also have picked up supply teaching and even a music teaching job. Yes I am earning less and we won't have a huge budget for our wedding, but I am happier than ever - and so much more relaxed. When I go in on a Weds, I am the one keeping everyone else up now! Life is too short.
Today...I have so far looked after a friend's baby so got in some exercise going ona long walk with him!
I am now going to:
-Do some surveys
-Check banking, do transferring
-Slow cook casserole for dins
-Do some work
Hope everyone's days get betterxxx

Hi everyone,
Another one feeling the Monday, rainy day blues here! Trying to lift myself out of it though...
Thanks for starting us off Carrie, what energy saving measures have you come up with?
Josie - It's good that you recognise the signs of slipping before it's too late, & glad to see you are taking action to prevent it! Deffo make the most of some "me" time tonight. Buying our first house & moving was one of the most stressful things I think I've ever experienced so I hope you keep on top of the move better than I did! I think a lot of the time we get so caught up in saving every penny possible, troubles at work & numerous other stresses that we forget to make any time to just relax.
Downnotout - Hope you feel a little more positive soon, just think that's another £10 closer to your DFD.
Foxgloves - Your rubber chicken always inspires me, but I don't think I'd ever match you because my DH eats like he's been starved all month lol.
DNMS - I read a little of that blog & although it is very impressive what she achieves on such a tiny budget I can't help but think it's still not right & needs to be healthier. She must feel hungry a lot. It's sad that we live in a world where people still struggle for basics like food & shelter.
Here's me today:-- All food from stores - Brekkie was HM porridge pot, lunch was leftovers
- Dinner from meal plan - Fajitas
- Making use of free water at work
- Staying in for my lunch break to avoid spending
- Log calories & exercise on free apps
- Check postcode lottery & birthday bingo
- Charging phone at work
- Heating off
- Check online banking
- Check for new mystery shopping opportunities
- Enter some comps
- Do some surveys
- Declutter & flylady
- Print fleabay packing slips at work today, will post tomorrow now as DH told me none of his items had sold & it turns out 1 of his books did for 99p! So might as well post both together tomorrow now
- Make use of TKD membership tonight
- Find receipts to return a couple of items
- Ice cakes that were backed yesterday while the oven was on
Hope everyone is ok & has a great, MSE day x:idea:Debt at July 2012: £12,862.57

Hi All,
Thanks to Carrie for starting the thread
Determined – that’s one heck of a list !
Hugs to those that need them – particularly anyone with ‘work issues’
And Hi to any new members !
Yay, Monday is over and done with. Today I have/will:
• Didn’t have time for breakfast, lunch and dinner from stores
• Bought split railcard to work – saving about £10 for the week
• Had to buy a couple of essentials – looked for things that were on offer
• Bought a mega rider bus ticket – was £4, would have spent £6 on the journeys
• Went for a job interview – I am actually getting the hang of these things now, and the fear is slowly dying
• Had an awful morning at work – the bad days are actually spurring me on at the moment
• Decided that I will be handing in my notice on 1st June (there’s more to life at the moment) – of course, if I get a job offer before this all the better
• Had a chilled afternoon of catchup TV
• Need to have a shower and an early night as I am at work early tomorrow
• I realised that I am no longer capable of ordering any phone accessories…..have ordered 3x things for current and previous phones and bought the wrong model…htc desire case and battery – bought desire HD case and battery and Samsung Galaxy Ace case – bought Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 case !
• Need to make breakfast and lunch for tomorrow
• Need to clear out my work backpack as it is at least half full of paper and used tissues (I know, even I am disgusted )
Think that is about it for me
Take care all
Candy xxx

Eening guys,
Hope everyone has cheered up. I seem to have caught the bad mood too
Candy - it's a brave move to hand in your notice but I think it will be the right decision
Perni - nothing too exciting. Have unplugged the toothbrush charger (always plugged in, but always was in the flat too ) and I've plugged the scart lead back into the dvd player instead of the ps2 (they run off different extension leads with different things plugged into each). Trying to think of other things, but I thought we were fairly good already. Apparently not :mad:LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -
Hi everyone
Perni - thanks for your words yesterday. I know I just need to think about how great it will be and keep plodding on knowing I'm not making it worse - should take comfort in that.OH passed his grading yesterday so he's pretty chuffed.
Big hugs everyone - we'll pull each other through.I had a bit of a frustrating meeting today - was getting so angry and my voice was quavering as I spoke! When it finished someone called me up to say 'I just wanted to give you a hug'. As soon as she said it tears came to my eyes!! That's how much I needed a hug in work. What a palaver all to sort out a few million pounds of pensions.
I've got myself a yoga class to cover - 3 classes so that's good.
Watching a series on Lovefilm before trial runs out.
Got a trip next week on expenses so will see what toiletries I can procure :rotfl:
Trip is with who I hope will be my new boss so I will aim to be 'on form' and treat it as one long job interview!
Transferred money about to stop going overdrawn.
Applied for mystery shop - £10
Catch up tomorrow!0
