OS Daily Monday 13th May

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Can't believe it is Monday again already. I think I spend too much of my weekend dreading going back to work.

Weather is wild, torrential rain and blustery wind and the beautiful blossom trees are lost for this year. I worry that my seedlings may be too but I will check that later.

Fasting day today so no breakfast or lunch to worry about and will have some tuna salad for dinner.

Ebaying seems to be taking over my life and am not sure it's worth it for the hassle. I am thinking I may only bother listing at free weekends and not touch anything under £5 start. That would mean another huge declutter to Oxfam, I need to see how this lot does and think it all through later.

Well it's time to get to work so will leave with customary well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need them or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

I think I spend too much of my weekend dreading going back to work.

    You know,
I think that far too many of us do this!
Worry all weekend about work, Spend our holiday's and days off thinking about work.
Now there is nothing wrong with that, If your on the same sort of money as a banker!
But for most people, Non of us get or will ever get the sort of wage to pay us back for the time and mental power that work take's up In our mind's when we are not there.

    Silly really,
Guess its just the way we are all built.

I tell my husband how much I love him everyday - he takes really good care of me :T

We had a nice stay overnight in a medieval hotel. It was very characterful but very upsy downy - so not so good with someone with balance problems. We spent the morning by the seaside and i fell fast asleep on the drive home - sea air:T:T:T

Back to reality with a bump:(

Hester - hope today goes well x
Jools - thinking of you x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Cloudy, overcast, windy and cold here this morning.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was crispy chicken, jacket potatoes, cheese, beans and LO salad and pasta salads for the menfolk. I had a jacket potato with tuna mayo and salad.

Had a lovely weekend away despite the changeable weather - couldn't believe when we got back yesterday the thermostat in the dining room read a chilly 15.5 degrees - the house was really cold so I relented a put the heating back on - I really don't like having the heating on in May and we've been away all weekend in the caravan and didn't need the heating on - just proves our weather is completely unpredictable! Had lovely day Saturday whilst DH was in his meeting - wandered around the shops - had an express manicure and polish - so my nails now look half decent, I did spend some money - but it was all items I needed and I got some great bargains. When DH came out of his meeting we walked quite a way but went to a restaurant that we've been to before - had an early dinner then caught the train (which is right near the restaurant) and went back to the caravan). We then had a relaxed evening with a couple of glasses of wine and chilled.

Managed to get a load in WM yesterday afternoon when we got back but haven't been able to put it out on the line and today is not looking promising either - don't want to go back to using the TD - so will see about getting the airer out as the heating is on again at the moment.

Back to work today - I will be quite busy today doing the job I'm rota'd to do as its a busy job on a Monday - but it'll soon make the day go quicker! Tonight's dinner may be spag bol as I have got food in but didn't remember to get anything out of the freezer - so that may be next best option.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Good morning

Up way too early this morning as one of the cats brought their mouse in to share. Given it was under my bed (with the cat) I had to get out and catch it and put it outside.

Another breezy morning here, dry at the moment. I did some gardening yesterday and would like to do some more today but have to go to work shortly. Will check for any jobs later, also need to ring and book an appointment for a cat to go to the vet.

Tea already organised for tonight. Corned beef pasties - wonderful. Will simply cook up frozen sweetcorn/peas to go with it. Also left over rice pudding for pudding. I'm not often this organised but manage it now and again.

Halight I hope you get the date you need from the hospital this week.

    Morning all,

No sun here today, but at least its not raining, got a load of towels in the wm, so will get those on the line today.

We went for a walk around a local harbour yesterday, and my god was it cold , the wind took your breath away, we persevered but were very glad to get back to the car.

Dropping dd at work this morning, then home, quick tidy round, I need to do some office work and an online shop today.

Dinner will be a roasted chicken, with cubed garlic potatoes, asparagus, and baby corn, looking forward to that.

I listed 4 things on ebay yesterday, I have had three buy it now offers on them already, which I have refused, if they offer a buy it now price you know that the item is going to sell well, fingers crossed for a good week.

    Have good days all xx
