New here.
I don't know if this is the right place for this subject, soon as someone tells me where to go i'll go there.
I work 56 hours a week, apparently i am only allowed 23 days holiday. :S I'm confused is this right? or am i just going nuts i'm sure it's more then just...23 days.
Anyway someone correct me?
And correct me too to those ''Perfectionists'' where i should be posting this if this is the wrong place.

You say you work 56 hours a week but over how many days?
Are you in the UK (as you sign the question Danke! and this is a UK site?), UK rules state most must receive 28 paid leave per year (and then there are Bank Holidays of which we have 8 per year).

Working 5 days a week
Most workers who work a 5-day week, must receive 28 days paid annual leave per year. This is calculated by multiplying a normal week (5 days) by the annual entitlement of 5.6 weeks.
Bank holidays
Bank or public holidays do not have to be given as paid leave. An employer can choose to include these holidays as part of a worker’s statutory annual leave.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
Thanks Meadow, it's shift work but we actually manage to fit in 56 hours in a week.
So our company is basically....!!!!!!ing us.

They have some weird calculations, also when we have our holidays we lose out on money by half an hour which i just found out right now.
We do 12 an a half hours, and only get paid 12, even when we do 14 hours we only still get 12 :S :S:S:S:S:S:S:S:S:S:S:S this is crazy stuff.0 -
Regardless of their calculations you should query if you are not getting the standard entitlement. Point them to the Government rules!Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0

It shall have to be done, this is going to cause a big hoo ha. Meadow where can i get this information from? as in a set of rules and laws? this would be nice to know ^_^ and use.0

OP, how many days a week do you work and does the 23 days include bank hols or do you get them off aswell?
If you work 5 days a week you are entitled to a minimum of 28 days holiday per year which can include bank hols so if you get 23 and the bank hols then you are doing ok.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -

I was going to say the same, there may not be anything wrong here at all.
Also, most employers do not pay for your breaks in the working day, hence a shift being more hours than you are paid.
My dd worked in a restaurant though part time through college and her shift was 6pm to 1.30am and she never had 5 minutes break at all, her employer was most definitely breaking the law and unfortunately it is not uncommon. I don't think you can be forced to work more than 48 hours in a week? Someone correct me if I am wrong0

I can't understand this 28 days? It's the first me or my DH have heard about it. I have just read the link.
My DH gets 4 weeks paid holiday, 20 days, and that's how it's always been his whole working life. Did the law change at some time, because years ago, for manual workers, it 'was' 20 days.

The total is 28 days including bank holidays. So if your DH is getting 20 days paid holiday and the eight paid bank holidays then his employer is within the law.It's someone else's fault.0
