Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

Good Luck Everyone

  • Will pledge £50 for myself this week - lots of meals out planned.

I shall update the first thread when I can, I'm on a tablet at the moment and sausage fingers don't always do what I want them to!

Hope everyone is doing well, and have a good week x
  • £50 for me too--- have been to Tescos and spent most of it on food and mega sized soap powder. Got myself a ham joint and using it to make a big soup on Tuesday with split peas, leeks, carrots, swede, parsnips and onions. That should keep me well fed!

    £45.02/£50 ---- Tesco Shop

-- Hoping all is good news with ETO :-)

Thanks for the new thread Flyinggiraffe :-)

I'm going to attempt £20 again!

I will probably be at my mum/Grandads the vast majority of the week, looking after them both - so there shouldn't be much need for spending!

Thanks for the new thread flyinggiraffe - hope ETO is looking after herself :j

Sorry for delay in updating for last week. I'm trying to get my house organised to put it on the market and it was DD's birthday party last week so a bit frantic and I've just got round to updating my spreadsheet :)

Ended up red - £136.35 / £120 as I underestimated food (and drink) shopping. Must try harder this week:

    Sunday - NSD - done :A
Monday - lunch for DD's actual birthday - done £20.10 + £3 sponsor money for DN
Tuesday - travel for work and catching up with colleagues in the evening £20
Wednesday - travel for work £5
    Thursday - NSD
Friday - £30 petrol and £40 budgeted for scentsy party (it's a smelly thing - alternative to candles and very nice....just a tad pricey) :D
    Saturday - NSD

I'll probably need some bits for lunches as well so I'll round up to £120 again for the week - highlighted in green to keep me on the straight and narrow :A

Wow, laying it all out like that and £120 disappears in a flash! Definitely no more socialising for me until payday at the end of the month :)

    Thanks again flyinggiraffe
