I have recently bought the Epson SX130 from our local Argos Clearance Centre and tried to set it up yesterday. I ran the cleaning process (and nozzle check) repeatedly - at least 8 times - and I still cannot print anything.(pink appears to be the only colour that is working.) I am now on my second cartridges and it asking for me to replace the black one again. Where is the ink going if it doesn't go on the paper?

Possibly to the waste ink pads.

If recently is within warranty, take it back

My Epson plays up if I don't use it for a while.

What works for me is to download a decent printer check sheet and then print it on highest mode.

If it's one colour that's stopped then I use Paint and print a single block of colour.

I also refill my own cartridges (get my ink from Aktiv Direct), so I'm not too bothered about the purge. As a point, every time you turn the printer on it purges some ink into the pad.

I use a reset kit for the chip, which I got for a couple of quid from Ebay.

It's also worth trying SSC service utility, although it's not shown as a supported model.

You may find some useful information on

Where there are some specific tips on clearing Epson heads and directions to some videos, too.

Am I right in thinking that when you look at the printer settings, if you are using compatibles and it shows as 'genuine' they you do not have a problem?
