Cheap warmish holiday in October half term?

Any ideas. It'll just be me & ds2 (13). I guess I'll have to put him as an adult now though.

I found http://www.thomson.co.uk/destinations/europe/portugal/algarve/alvor/hotels/alvor-baia.html but its over £500 each which is a little over budget, but is all inclusive which means I don't have to worry about spends when we're there.

Spain & Greece are coming up pricey (it is half term though) & most are s/c, which adds to the overall cost.

Just had a tough year so far & want to treat him to a little sun for under a grand hopefully.

TIA

Edit; going from Birmingham

I'm going the week before you, with my DD (12).

The cheapest flights for me were from Gatwick, so we're taking the train (with family railcard) down to Gatwick the night before, and staying in a travelodge there at the airport. I've booked flights and hotel/transfers separately, and those have come to a total of just over £400 total ie £200 each (this is self catering in an apartment).

Have you looked at the Canaries? Greece and Spain and Portugal can be a bit hit and miss at the end of October..... Cyprus should be ok, though the prices are so high for half term, a week earlier you could get 2 weeks for the price of one.

Canaries are coming up over £600 each. Can't do 2 weeks as teaching. Lol. Cyprus was showing at over £700 eeep!

I might hang on and do a last minute travelzoo though. Some good deals occasionally.

Not doing DIY though as above. I want the relative safety of a package.

On Thomas Cook, you can do Majorca AI for less than £1000, but again could be iffy weather plus it would be cheaper if you could fly out ( not just Majorca) on the Thursday or Friday before the 26th, if you can get time off.....I am looking myself and hoping the Friday is a teacher training day! Benidorm was do-able as well for under £1000.

The cheapest way to do it by far will be booking DIY. You'll be doing wel to get a low cost package to somewhere warm in october half term, as that's one of the busiest times of the year for tour operators.

Make sure your travel insurance covers DIY holidays and you'll be absolutley fine.

Birmingham is quite an expensive airport as well, as there are limited flights. If you could travel to Manchester or North London that'll greatly reduce your costs. Even east midlands may be cheaper.

I'm not too sure cheap and school holidays even belong in the same sentence..........

I really don't think you're any more guaranteed great sunshine in Turkey at the end of October compared with Greece (the southern islands) or parts of Spain. I think they are more or less equal weather-wise at that time of year.

I love Turkey, but just like Spain and Greece, towards the end of October the weather can be changeable.

If you are looking for guaranteed good weather in October and cheap prices, then I would recommend Turkey, have a look at the Olu Deniz area, fantastic place.

Was going to just suggest the exact same place! Amazing there and great value for money.
