Patio dining set gone rusty
Comments

I've sent a short email so will see what they say.
This is the set http://reviews.asda.com/1440-en_gb/BUN16HAVPAT1/haversham-8-piece-patio-dining-set-reviews/reviews.htm It's mainly the arms on the chair that have rusted, the table doesn't seem to have been affected.0 -
Looks like you're not the only one:
"Cons;-
One seat pad was dirty when packaged open and the table was damaged, and some areas rusted very quickly - within a WEEK. Obviously not coated properly"
lifted from one of the reviews on the page you linked to.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
Well Asda has replied, and the response has left me much, much angrier than I was with the rusting of the patio set!
These bits in particular...
"This can be corrected by cleaning off any affected area with a fine grade wire wool or aluminium oxide paper and re-coated with a matching exterior paint."
We shouldn't have to do this with an 11 month old patio set. If there were only small patches, I might understand, but all 8 chairs have rust on them. I sent them photos of the rust too. It's not fit for purpose, end of story, surely.
"As a gesture of goodwill, I’ve attached a £5.00 evoucher to your online account for you to use on your next shop"
£5 'gesture of goodwill'!! I actually found this more offensive than if they had offered nothing. The patio set was £200, and in its current state unusable. Do they seriously think a £5 voucher makes it all okay.
Thanks very much to the user who pointed out the review about the rust. I've pointed this out in my reply.0
