Patio dining set gone rusty

Just wondering if someone can offer some advice.
My parents purchased a patio dining set last June from ASDA Direct. It wasn't a particularly cheap set, think it cost about £250.
When they have come to get it out for this summe it has gone really rusty. The chairs in particular are almost covered in rust. It's not even a year old yet and it doesn't look like it will last much longer.
Have they any rights? I was planing on emailing ASDA and seeing what they say but wanted to know what I can expect them to offer beforehand.
Thanks

When you say 'got it out' where was it stored and was it dry when it was put away?0

Sounds like a storage issue if the dinning set was put away unscratched (damage to paintwork) and dry and the garage was dry then it should not have gone rusty.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0

I'm no expert at all, but my Dad does normally know what he's talking about, and he thinks there's a possibility that the rust has been painted over. There isn't just a little rust, some of the chairs are absolutely covered. The garage is used a lot for storage, and has been for years and we've never had any issues before.
My Dad was going to sand them all down and repaint, but when he's looked at them properly they really are in a bad state considering the sets only 11 months old.
Do you think it's worth an email to ASDA or would I be wasting my time?0 -
It's always worth emailing.
You would expect it to last more than a year - even if left outside!"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
I'd ask politely and see what they say, don't go in all guns blazing until they weapons to the polite request...0

post a picture of the original set - like a weblink and the current set0
