Using the phone blocks my broadband connection.

Options
As soon as I start to use the phone my connection to the internet cuts out, I am on broadband and the modem tries to reconnect but cannot until the phone is not in use. Can anybody out there help me to put it right. 1a_y_sad.gif

Sounds like a filter problem to me. Filters are meant to filter the different wavelengths between voice calls and digital signals. Get them checked out first if I was you. It pays to have good filters.

I have 1 filter fitted and I still have a spare one, where should they be fitted, maybe I have it fitted in the wrong place.

I have a long extension lead from the main socket for the phone, it runs into my bedroom where the phone is and then carries on through to the kitchen when my computer is, I have put the filter on the phone socket in my kitchen and attached my modem and computer to the filter, would that be correct.??

    Hi,

You also need a filter attached to the phone in your bedroom.
Any phone or other device that is connected to your line needs a filter attached to it.

Thanks everybody, it is sorted now, I did have a filter fitted in the bedroom where the phone is but because there is extension leads and a double adaptor involved I got it all mixed up with the connections, the way I connected everything was wrong and the phone was bypassing the filter but I have the arrangement correct now and it all works perfectly. 1a_y_grin.gif
