Yes they are aware that my 18 yr old is still in full time education. In fact i received a letter from Housing benefit last week asking me to provide evidence of this. I took along proof yesterday.
I do think its my daughters mail etc thats causing this. I dont know why she left things registered here. Lazyness.
As this is worrying me so much ive researched Interviews Under Caution and apparently they're for cases where they have strong evidence. It sounds terrifying tbh.
I honestly havent committed any fraud but feel that they wont believe me. Does anyone know what kind of evidence theywould need?I hope theey have been watching my movements as they'll see who has been coming in and out.
Thanks again
It's more than laziness if she's giving your address to an employer two years after she's moved out. For whatever reason, that must have been a conscious decision.0 -
It could be that the boyfriend's mum was investigated for not declaring her and she said that she lived with you. That and the address with work/DVLA could be enough?
Don't worry, you have plenty of evidence to provide, that's what matters.0 -
You are entitled to have someone with you at the interview. Take your daughter with you, and get her to tell them the truth.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0

Firstly, don't panic. You've not done anything wrong, nor committed any crime, so you don't need to worry.
Secondly, tell your DD to get a grip. It is a criminal offence to fail to notify a change of address to the DVLA, but that is her offence, not yours.
Thirdly, it's always a good idea to take someone with you, for support and help.
There is no need to panic at all, but being prepared is always a good thing....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
If you are not committing fraud and have truthfully declared all your circumstances then you have nothing to hide and have nothing to worry about
Any discrepancies or reports of fraud they are obliged to investigate - even if these reports are false and malicious.
If your daughter lives with her boyfriend and works for the council then all you need to do is ask them to check the councils own records.
They may be trying to establish where her main residence is and it could be having her car registered at your address has triggered this.
About 90% of discrepancies have innocent explanations. These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0 -

If the boyfriends mother is disabled and if she receives DLA Care then it doesn't matter if the boyfriends mother has 1 or 100 non deps it would make no difference to her benefit claim as there is no non dep deduction if DLA Care is in payment. These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0 -
I think the proof that you should take is your daughters bank statements and driving licence/passport.
just in case it is the other one turning 18 also take proof of the full time education0 -

But maybe she isn't. And why stopping claiming HB suddenly? My daughter has lived at her boyfriends for over 3 yrs but apparently the mum was claiming HB up until a year ago.0 -

The letter states that i am entitled to be accompanied by someone but this person must not be related to the case.
I am going to seek legal advice in the morning and have also asked my daughter to write out a statement confirming that she has not lived in my home for a few years and also an explanation as to why she has still used my address for a couple of things.0 -
As another poster pointed out if you know you have done nothing wrong why are you getting so upset.
I would just go to the meeting, listen to what is said, answer the questions truthfully.............end of.
I have always been a law abiding citizen so receiving an official letter informing me that i am to be questioned under caution for a possible criminal offence is EXTREMELY worrying.0
