Hi Kev64, we've got your e-mail and we'll attend to it today. Thanks David“Official Company Representative
I am the official company representative of Scottish Power. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"0 -
I am also on this tariff ending 31st May 2013. Would I be safe to start the switching process now, avoiding cancellation charges?0

Can anyone help with my query please (specifically the rep)?0

Hi sorry to hear that. If you e-mail us at social@scottishpower.com we will help. Thanks David
I thought that I would add my two penneth to this thread. I suffered the same fate of being charged £30 when we switched from Scottish Power at the end of April. I had followed th rules carefully so was upset when the final bill arrived showing the Cancellation Costs.
I discovered this thread following a Google search and emailed the contact shown above. A few days later I received a phone call from a very polite young man - exactly the sort you need in customer complaints/services. He said that I was right, they had screwed up and would refund the £30. So a brilliant result and that is the reason I am adding weight to this method of achieving satsifaction from Scottish Power.
What is disturbing to me is that are presumably many of their customers who have been encouraged to switch providers who will just assume that the cancellation charges are correct and accept them. Had it been my wife in charge of bills etc. in our house she certainly would have done so!!!
I suspect that similar arrangements are in place with all or utility providers - it is easy money for them.0
