Years ago my wife had a similar incident with one female PC showing off to a trainee. Even came to arrest her one Sunday lunch time when my parents were with us. Went to court and the judge threw out the case as there were so many discrepancies in their statements. It was obvious they were lying.
So my advice is do not cave in, do not give any statement appart from saying the light was not red when you started to cross, keep it simple and examine both statements carefully and see when they were written, did they note the car number, what was the make and number of the car after you, etc.
I add that I am not an expert only dealt with our case before.0 -
I'd go to Court. The Police are quite often caught-out by Magistrates & do lose an awful lot of cases.
Questions that a Judge would ask them would likely to be along the lines of 'Were you able to see clearly that the lights controlling the traffic emerging from the junction were red?' & 'Do you know if the lights at the junction are phased such that they allow the traffic emerging from the junction & turning left to proceed?'.
Any hesitancy in their answers would be picked-up really quickly.Never Knowingly Understood.
