    The thing your looking for usually has to be discoverable too - at least until they have been introduced (paired) - This may only be a 1 minute window when the one device becomes discoverable temporarily and the searching device is set to search during that window.

    Check the car manual for how to set it to pairing mode.

    Some things by default are discoverable, some are not - during the trailers at the cinema I often scan with my phone to see how many are, its funny the names some people give their phones!
