finicky little sod....

Options
Just taken Mum's dog Leo to the vets and there on the counter were Stag Bars! Never seen them in there before and I'd thought of buying my Bob one but the postage put me off.

£5 for a small one, I came home, proudly offered him my prize and he's just looked at it as though I'd gone mad.
Not to be beaten I smeared it with butter thinking he just needs to get the taste. Yes, he's licked off the butter and abandoned it again.

I give up. I wan't him to chew on something to try and help his teeth!
Finicky. Seriously

Not to be beaten I intend to soak it in peanut butter overnight. Then tomorrow I'll just face the fact that Bob and Stag Bars aren't to be and throw it in his toy box :o

Mines the same bought her pizzle sticks, healthy bones and Antlers plus Fish4Dogs Sea Jerky Treats and doesn't like any of them. All healthy and good for teeth.

Just rubs her head on them and walks away. Prefers Smackos instead which full of rubbish and high in fat typical. Or cat treats because the cat eats them so in my dogs head that must mean they nice.

I bought both of mine a small stag bar each and the pair of them have ignored them, I was told by the pet shop owner to soak them over night and that that might make them fancy them.

My dog really likes the fish skins!

Have you tried anything like the durable nylabones they are supposed to be good for their teeth. Mine has this particular one and she LOVES it! It has a sort of paste inside down the middle which has a really strong like a beefy oxo sort of smell which keeps her interested forever! :D Pretty cheap too and they last ages.

Yep, tried all of that type of thing, I even bought him a duck flavour nylabone the other week which was about £8. He sniffed it.

Problem is he used to have a mate, Jack our scottie. Jack would part chew the rawhide/nylabones etc then Bob would happily finish them. When Jack died Bob stopped eating the bones because there was nobody to chew them for him first and it seems thats the way things are always going to be :(

I soaked them in water (with a teeny bit of Marmite) overnight and that renewed my two's interest. They would have an occasionally nibble, but gnawed a good couple of inches off (I have the XLs for mine) after the Marmite treatment. They mustn't be so tasty at the mo though as they're back to mostly ignoring them, they'll probably have a little gnaw once a week or so at the moment.

Try sandpapering it. I've heard that it can renew their interest in them. :o

    Hahah :p

It's currently in the fridge soaking in water as suggested on the stag bar website. We'll see what tomorrow brings.....
