AOL BB renewal deal

I haggled a bit, given that I've been with AOL for 10 years, and received the following deal. It seems better than what I've seen on the comparison sites (and better than the current CPW deal), but just wanted to check what the consensus is.

  • 5MB broadband (my area is unbundled, and given the distance from the exchange, this is the best speed I can get without going cable).
  • Unlimited downloads.
  • Unlimited anytime calls (although I rarely use the phone).
  • Line rental included.
For the first 12 months £16.00, then back to £21.60 for the last 6 of the new 18 month contract. (Line rental is £14.35, the rest is for BB and calls).

I have a 12 day cooling off period.....this sounds reasonable, right?

BT Unlimited Broadband costs £16 a month too, the service is rated better, you get a free new router and it'll be the same price forever. The AOL offer isn't really worth it.

Have a look at the deals on BT dot com.

But you then have to pay for line rental on top of the £16 with BT.

I would get them to confirm this as they may try to add £4.09 for this.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I called again to check about the unlimited downloads, and they said that is now standard on all their packages. Also, the line rental is definitely included in the £16 I was quoted for the first 12 months.
