your credit card company will sort this out for you
On what basis?
Room was available to OP.
Could attempt unrecognised, but it would only comeback with OP details so would be redebited again.
TBH. If a hotel wanted you to email card details it should have been a warning sign to stay away....
Any hotel should have the ability to take details via a website. If not then you should call them. That way you get ALL the details you need on the phone...Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
Room available is precisely the point of contention.dalesrider wrote: »On what basis?
Room was available to OP.You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -
If you went to all the effort to drive past the hotel, I don't understand why you wouldn't have at least got out and tried the door or made at least some kind of effort to figure out how to get in
At 3am?

Mind you, every hotel I have stayed in has had a manned reception 24 hours a day.
You need to pay more attention.
The OP has already stated that the hotel told her nobody would be around at 3am and she would need an access code to get in.
This was then confirmed by the fact when she drove past at 3am all lights were off.
The fact the hotels you have stayed in have after hours entry is irrelevant....This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I think you need to be a bit more imaginative.
Hotels don't completely shut down at night. Not in my experience - hence the comment and relevance.
I have no doubt there would be security, night watchman or even a duty manager on call.0 -

And this man was sat in the dark was he?
Your experience as normal is irrelevant unless you've stayed in this hotel before?
If someone was available to let the OP in then the hotel wouldn't have said "nobody would be there".This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Ok not breaking but trying door handles at 3am seems a bit dodgy! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
