thanksI have never tried reglaze but i do use a quick detailer after every wash, i use Meguiars Ultimate Quick Detailer and i love as it makes the car look really good after a wash
I would be wary of buying autosmart products from e bay unless you are 100% happy that you trust the seller
many of the autosmart products are sold full strength and you add to a spray bottle and dilute to use, there was reports that some unscrupulous sellers were watering the stuff down and selling on, then when you add water it is to weak and will not work properly
it was mcquires quick detailer and smooth clay bar I was looking at in Halfords, I just looked on ebay for a price check when I saw the reglaze, there too much stuff out there now and its easy to get the wrong stuff.Meguiar's Quik Clay Starter Kit £17.99
(5) Reserve or Buy Meguiar's Smooth Surface Clay Kit £27.99
whats the difference here, all I can see is the 1 extra clay bar and cloths.
I have a lwb high roof transit, will 1 clay bar be enough.0 -
when i use a clay bar on the car i use the bilt Hamer medium and bilt hamer fine clay
the reason i like this brand is you can use water as a clay lube and dont have to use expensive quick detailer clay lube
when claying i use plain warm water, or make a mix with autoglym bodywork shampoo conditioner and water in a soapy mix and prefer this to spending loads of money on quick detailer to use as clay lube0 -
when i am buying on-line i like using
elite car care or clean your car, to buy my car cleaning stuff
Halfords can be ok if you can use the three for two offers0 -
As using a clay bar can be a bit daunting for an inexperienced user, I'd recommend one of the new type of clay cloths or mitts such as the Farecia G3 Mitt - http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_1021399_langId_-1_categoryId_255233Old thread alert! Use a clay bar to get off the bonded contaminants you probably can't see but can feel with your fingertips. A clay bar should take even old paintwork back to a glass like smooth finish, ready for a polish and wax/seal.
Pretty much fool proof if you use with plenty of lubricant or shampoo. See the reviews here: http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=3306020 -

so the detailer is a lube for the clay, I see now, im sure it'll become clearer once ive had a go at it.:rotfl:
so how often do you need to do the clay bar work, to keep a good shine?
one of my motorbikes is mainly black but has a few scratches and swirls, whats the best to use on that first?0 -

Its not necessary to clay too much. Only once or twice a year.
To get a good shine, you need to prep the bodywork well and "seal it in" with a wax or sealant. So an average wax on perfect bodywork will look better than a perfect wax on average bodywork.
So it makes sense to clay and polish together, then wax.
To get the best shine, you will need to machine polish or even wet sand the car, and obviously this is not always feasible. So different grades of polish (one aggressive "cutting" compound, one "finishing" compound) may help to get more of a shine. Use the finer one first, then if you still have tiny scratches/swirl marks, use the more aggressive one first, then ending with the finishing polish.
As said above, the Farecla G3 mitt or similar has got some good reviews. I've just bought one myself based on the reviews (but haven't had a chance to use it yet).0
