Yes, but Flair are a false economy. I've tried them on more than one occasion and each time you get through a 3 pack\6 pack\8m pack twice, maybe three/four times faster than a better quality product which doesn't require three/four sheets.
S 2 pack (100 sheet) after APG works out at about 90p for the equivalent of 4 x 50 sheet rolls of a much higher quality product comparible to Plenty. To me, and of course all this is subjcetive that's a much better saving. The initial outlay may be slightly higher but the longer term cost is far lower
I've not noticed that (getting through the packs faster) but maybe I should give the own-brand a whirl and see? Many thanks for the reply.
I've now looked through the 'Savvy Buys' for Sains. (600+ of them) on MSM... and I've added virtually none of them to any list. I'm getting ever more stringent as to what makes the price grade. The 'problem' is that, as I've been looking at prices for a longer and longer period, I've seen lower prices on nearly all the items before*. There's about only one I've added to Avs S (the list itself I'll go to in time and select the best remaining on it for here). I've found a couple (and no more than that) of items for Tvs S, although they're not particularly good ones in my view as the S prices still seem too high to me! (And no 10%.)
In fact I think I'll not go shopping at all today. We've got enough in and there's almost nothing extra I've found for me. So I'd save money by stopping in and doing no shopping. Total bill - £0.00. There: I've saved loads! Loads compared to the amount I'd probably spend on a shop, even with APG back. I might get the Sprite 500ml though (another day, at the right time!:D).
*Actually the opposite of a problem - it makes me save more money.0 -
still 640 should we be making lists0

I just finished reading your post
90p branded pop is a good deal IMHO and saves on one less needless filler
Also i might save by buying one of the drinks you mention but i don't want them. Is it money saving to buy something you don't want/won't use? Yes, but i would rather save money on things i like than on things i don't
The 33p Jammin' are N/A in A and were bought at 33p in T straight (many months ago). No fillers needed!:D
I'm not going for the 500ml Sprite today (with MOC for a free bottle), as I'd currently need 7 useless fillers. Instead I'm waiting a few days till we run out of stuff and then they'll be the items to make up the shop.
It's absolutely not MS to buy something you won't use - but I like the Jammin' just as much as any other and don't see it's saving money to buy hugely advertised, branded pops at premium prices. Or anything at all at premium prices. I think MS is often met by not following the crowds and by searching out obscure brands at less attractive locations in stores rather than the ones everyone first goes for and, IMO, pays over the odds for! Paying for the advertising that influenced too many people and it's the way the stores make money - I may be taking it too literally but the downshift challenge pages I remember: 'The old adage of "look high and low" really does apply'.
I think we've had this before very recently: I tend to think the lower priced AKA good value items are virtually the same as the expensive ones, and nearly always do the job just as well or, often, do it better than the products that vast numbers of people have been lulled/influenced into buying. The whole point of advertising is to suggest your product is different from the others. I'm having none - it's in their interest and it's for their money (an over-generalisation of what I actually think! What I actually think is a far more complex view!).
After the last mention, I think someone came and said the low fat version of a standard range own-brand had the identical ingredients to the 'value' product. (And remember not all products called 'value' by the supermarkets actually are. Then can be more expensive than the right sizes of favoured brands on the right comparisons and bought in the right way. If the brand works out cheaper than the S/P item, I'll go for that if needed. If it doesn't, or the S/P item works just as well/tastes just as good or, often, even better, then I'll buy that, if I need it.) My view is the S/P/Basics etc. items must do their job and can't be harmful otherwise they would not be allowed to sell it. It's all marketing. That's how the places make money (in other words take more money from you meaning you don't save more money for yourself) - don't have any of it!0 -
